...because i do. Is Europe a big continent? Being number 2 in Europe shouldnt mean much I guess... that must mean Nintendo is #1 right???

http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2...bersalespr.mspx

way to grab unbiased info, now lets see who has sold more, flat-out bottom line sold more:

link 1

link 2

please take note that in link 1, Europe is not mentioned by itself, it's listed in "others" including Australia, New Zealand, and most asian countries which comprise a good portion of global population. I don't see many X-Box titles on those lists, and it has been around just five years or so less than Sony's console ( a very short amount of time considering Microsoft's dominance in other technology sectors). It boasts a whopping two games anywhere near the top of the list? Yeah, they're real dominant in the global market. You started by bashing Nintendo, and now you're getting all defensive when you told your wrong about their chances. Sounds to me like your little rant got refuted and now you're taking the high and mighty road out of it.

And before you get all uppity about these being historical sales figures, it's bottom line profits for these companies over the long term. Nintendo has staying power and marquee titles for every system they put out. I'm personally a Sony guy because Nintendo can't manage a good game from Square-Enix to save their lives, but Nintendo will still be number two until Microsoft can mange to market better in Japan, since they are the second largest market for video games.

Lets see, Im talking about console sales, your talking aobut software sales good for you? Most of the games are 10-20 years old, which shows that Nintendo hsant made anything worth a crap since the regan era. Also, a lot of those games are for the GB. Portables and Consoles are two different monsters.

But you did help prove my point. Using Link 2, Xbox has 2 current generation games, and Nintendo has one. NES, SNES, and N64? Come on sir.

I appologize, I was using bundled games... under top 20...

those numbers confuses me though... I dont see how halo sold 7.42 million copies in one instance... but its not even in the top twenty when number 20 has only sold 7 million. Wikipedia can not always be a 100% trusted source, as it is a wiki, all the content is controlled by the users, so I can go on there right now, and change everything. I would like to see a trusted source of CONSOLE sales.

correct me if I'm wrong though, but doesn't the software sell the hardware? It really goes hand in hand, and until Microsoft gets better Square-Enix deals for the 360, they will never be big in Japan, which is what keeps them at number 2 globally. The FF series is what helped drive so much of Sony's sales, and Microsoft has nothing to compete in that genre. IF IF IF Microsoft can land two of three games with Square-Enix on their new deal that are worth a crap for them, they might peak. Seeing as how one of those games is a flopped mmorpg, they need two home-run type games to gain access to the RPG market that is very lucrative.

thats like saying one hockey team has 90 points, and the other has 80. But the one with 80 points has a better power play, so they are better... and yes i know i was using m$ numbers :)... they were from other sources though... are those sources m$ biased? who knows...

if we want to run a comparison to the hockey world, Dallas had more points than Colorado, right? It really is the games that make the system, so we'll see if Microsoft can tap into one of the larger markets they've flopped in prior. Honestly, Sony presented FF game after FF game, Nintendo flooded us with Zelda game after Zelda game and X-Box has Fable? What a waste of programming for a market they're lacking in. It's more like saying Microsoft is the Steinbrenner of the console world, huge checkbook to work with but have yet to put together an unstoppable team on all fronts.

Suddenly, this looks a lot more attractive when Sony announced that the PS3 is going to be dropping for $499 US. And that's for the base version w/o any wireless controllers and the basic 20 gb hd. After games, controllers, and s&h/tax etc..., the PS3 could very well be running upwards of a thousand bucks. But then again, I could always give in to temptation despite my moral objections and get a 360 as the price drops.
