Holder misalignment on vector pros

Recommended Posts

Notice the diff between the alignment of holders on my left and right skate? Thats why I found it strange skating on my edges for my right foot. I should contact CCM and tell them abt this right?

Guys, you do not just buy these skates, have them throw them in a box, and then go home, do you? Before you lay that plastic on the counter, you check out the skates very carefully!!! Are the blades straight (because if they do not start out mounted straight, you will have years of trouble getting them sharpened). Are the blades installed crooked, like in these pictures. Are there any lumps or burrs on the inside of the skates that will kill your feet after a month. Check things out! The workmanship on some skates is horrendous.

It pains me to see the poor quality control out there. I've been lucky with my CCM skates, but I would be so frustrated to shell out for new wheels and have a problem with them that only a few people know how to diagnose.

I will contact CCM before my LHS (cause I know the LHS guys will almostly be cold and give that "not my business" attitude.) how's CCM's customer service? do they replace skates or repair them?

I agree with JR, just go to the LHS. I wouldn't agree to a repair if it involves shifting the holder and drilling more holes (not that that repair wont work) But if the skates are new, get a new pair. Since they don't have any more, they'll get one from the warehouse (or the rep can get one from another store) if any are left and return the defective ones for credit. Not a big deal so I don't see why they'd hassle you. While I've only had to return 1 CCM skate in the last few years, not a big deal.

Do any of you LHS owners inspect your skate shipments for these problems before selling them?

I always did.

My first skate was an old ccm mustang 705 ( wonder if anyone head of it before) but it was so bad that you could not move yourself in the ice !!! the holders sucked too much, no power in my strides and heavy as hell.

damn I went to the LHS today ( 1 hr transport) And they guys said they were nothing wrong !!! NOTHING WRONG???? They are going to let the local rep take a look at them and will give me a call in a few days. I'm really dissapointed...I have always been a supporter of CCM and this changes about the way I think of the company. How can that be NOTHING WRONG??

Because faceless people on a bulletin board are not always right. There may be nothing wrong. Yop can't make an educated or proper decision using a picture someone posted on a BB.. Let the process work. The rep may decide they are defective. My rep is a great guy, but he lets me make the decision if I think a skate is defective, no questions asked. I send them back. CCM has never questioned or refused a credit. IMO they are a very good company in regards to defects, which are rare as far as my experiences.

Good stuff Mew, good to hear. I'm glad everything worked out for you. I wonder if CCM is kinda a hit and miss senario... depending on what "local rep" you get.

Well I have grown fond of my easton synergy 700 in these couple of weeks, just wondering if I should switch back to the vector 10.0s.
