Skate insoles

Recommended Posts

I use Dr. Scholl's in mine. I used to have flat feet and had to wear orthodics. 10 years ago, when I was playing a lot more, I asked the podiatrist about getting orthodics made up. She told me that it would be at least a month and that they would need my skates. I wasn't about to do that, so she told me that Dr. Scholl's would probably work just as well. From what I understand, making orthodics for skates has become a lot easier, but I don't skate enough to warrant it now. I tell my customers that the footbeds are basically glorified pieces of foam and that is arch support is an issue, try Dr. Scholls. It has definately worked for me.

Can I ask is there a specific model of Dr. Scholl you use?

They have a bunch of them, with different arches. I have flat feet, and have been looking for something to put in, just an over the counter thing, I can find dr. scholls, but not superfeet.

Cheers

So I skated now for the first time really with 1 insole...the stock bauers and skating felt so different. I had to get used to my edges all over again because i was so on my toes before with the 2 insoles. I can skate much faster I think because the entire blade is pushing and not just the top half. Could the 2 insoles mess me up that much? It feels like my whole blade is on the ice now I havent had that feeling for a long time. I have quicker starts now too.

i use the superfeet and i absolutely love them. after using them in my skates i started putting them in my shoes, IMO there more than worth it.

Are the Superfeet insoles perforated, to let all the moisture out?

no they're not.

Do you think it is possible to perforate them yourself, without ruin them? As i use the Pro Tacks (perforated outsoles) which doesn't soak up the perspiration, the moisture has to find a way of escaping the boot.

I'm sure there shouldn't be a problem with perforating the superfeet insoles just as long as you don't do the perforations on the plastic support (duh!). Other than that it should be good!

Hock20 - thats because you dont have much of a barrier in between your feet and the skates so you feel it better. i'm not a big fan of the stock bauer insoles as they dont offer much support for me on the arches. when i made the switch to superfeet it was night and day...but now they feel even much more better with custom orthotics!

So I will still have the same feel for the ice as I now do with the stock bauer insole with the superfeet? I ordered a pair 3 days ago and they are on their way. I really like the feeling that I have with the 1 insole, I feel the ice better. I have read that they raise your foot a lot is it as drastic as 2 insoles?

This pic makes them look as thick if not thicker then my 2 insoles.

Can someone with superfeet comment on this? Are they really that thick or is it just the pic.

they are thick my wife has a pair of the green ones, she wears them in her shoes.

i just use running shoe insoles. when i throw out a pair of shoes i keep the insoles for my skates.

i used to use osiris skate shoe insoles and those were perfect because they had a gel pad in the heel and raised instep area and it wasn't too thick. It was perfect because I was having blister problems and that solved the problem rightaway

the superfeet don't raise your feet as much as 2 insoles would. It's thinner than what the picture shows.

im going to try them, hopfully next week when I see my OS he will write a prescription for custom orthotics...that would be the ideal insole.

There are actually quite a few reviews for the superfeet insoles. I use them. I LOVE them.

They really aren't all that thick, just at the heel that stabalizes your foot.

Are the insoles on the Synergy's made by shock doctor? If so, do they work okay in them? I would imagine the ones design for the skate would work fine. My friend has 1300's and has never complained.

My 1300C's have the Shock Doctors in them. I was in Easton Z-Air, size 8, which fit great. Then I got a pair of 1300C's, size 8, and they felt a little tight at the toes, which I couldn't understand (same brand, same size). I may try replacing the shock dr's with regular insoles to see if that helps any. There's no pain, it just feels different than the old skates, which is a normal part of the new-skate process.

:D With my 7000's that I just started skating in-with the Bauer insole it felt as though my heel would move a bit-some of this may be attributable to the fact that the skate is so stiff-hopefully as the break in progresses they will mold a bit more and settle the heel

I put the black Superfeet in them and voila-no more heel movement at all-they seemed to promote more of a "heel lock"-they do feel like they put me on my toes a bit more
