Slaming F1

Recommended Posts

Well I got my Salming F1's in the mail yesterday just before my game. When I first tried them on I notice how nice and cushiony they felt on my feet. Comparing them to my vapors XX's they feel thicker but in a good way. More protection and not bulky. As for weight I'm sure they're not as light as the XX's. I never noticed a difference either way on the ice.

Now for actually skating in them. The t-blades took me about 5 minutes to get used being back on my heels. I was using spacers and my LS1's although after the game was done i was pretty happy with the way they were. I felt I could turn better and the hollow was great giving me a some nice glide. Although I know my XX's didn't have the same blade specs as these so that might be why i liked them better.

The acutal boot felt great to skate in. Only a few minor pressure points but i feel after a few games they'll be broken in nicely. The 256-M-13 blades that came on them I though were perfect for me.

I'm extremly impressed with Salming. For a virtually unknown hockey company in NA, they make some great skates. A steal for the $150 price they're going for now. Much better then my vapor XX's but maybe they were due for retirement.

I'll give some further comments on them after my game on friday.

got another game in last night. the boots feel great. no pressure points at all. also got the blades aligned and that helped a bit too. I was't properly using my inside edge so the alignment helped my stance out. i'm still diggin these t-blades too. :D

I have always loved my F1's I have been skating in them for months now and honestly, you haven't felt a thing yet. Once they break in, they are like a pair of old converse hightops. They mold to your foot and become almost like an extension of your legs.. something that a good highend $500 boot should do, but for a price that is way below that. My fiance wants a pair for hockey too, but they dont make them in her size. I am going to get another pair for my birthday for when these finally break down. Salming isn't going to be around long in the US, Jason is trying to liquidate all of his gear, so if you are thinking of getting a pair, you had better do it quick.

I'm wondering how you guys find the fit compared to a narrow skate such as the Vapor line? One review I read suggested that the Salming boot was very wide, and anyone who fit in a Vapor boot would likely experience slippage issues.

I'm interested in a pair, the price sounds fantastic and I'd like to try the t-blades out, but I'm a little unsure of the fit issue cause I doubt I'd get the chance to ever try on a pair before buying them.

They are a wide boot. I came from a CCM tack and it was a noticable difference (although fit my fat foot quite well.)

the heels are nice and snug. the toecaps have lots of room for those toes too. as for width they are wider but i feel they have good arch support so it seems to stop foot movement to a minimum. I went from 6 EE XX's to these 6D's and they were great.

I've had mine for 2 years now, playing about once a week, and they are holding up nicely. Almost new looking save for one small cut that doesn't affect much. Best money I have spent on equipment, hands down.

Thats great. This will be my first time trying out the t-blade too. Are you till using the t-blade or you have change the holder? Only concern is the width as im afraid that it will be too wide for me.

I'm still using T-blades. I've mostly gotten used to em. Its still hard to get used to the extra noise sometimes, but other than that, I really like em. Its hard to get a good, consistant sharpen here, so the T-blades are wonderful for that. Of course, its getting harder to find the blades, so its getting to be a wash.

I can't say much about the width thing. My foot was tight in my d width tacks, now its just snug in my F1s, if that helps any.

Thanks for the the info. I really wanna hear how the t-blade sound & how loud it is. Over here I'm almost in the same situation, I had only 1) ONE LHS over here. 2) Not sure of the sharpening since its a new shop. Plus there was no Hockey shop prior to this (maybe t-blade help in here). I was switching between my CCM 652 tacks & quest 4 till the base broke! Looks like i need to get some runners :)

Just went for a test run on it. Thankfully the fitting was good though i got blisters. I have to re-adjust my balance on the F1. The t-blade edge is sharp but the groove/hollow is not. I was prepare for the loud noise that you guys mention but it wasnt loud!! It still has the "crussh" cruush" sound when you skate. The sound is different when you turn, cross, hockey stop but still not that loud to me.
