CCM 652 or 852 tacks helmet

I already own a 652 helmet. I'm trying to get the best gear that I can afford so I do not have to worry about getting hurt. I don't care about spending the money, so is it worth it to get a 852 or even the new 892 helmet, or is it a waist if I already have the 652?

Nothing is wrong with the 652. I bought it at the end of this past hockey season because it was one of the few helmets I could find in my size. I just wanted a helmet to use temporarily until the new ones came out. Now I'm wondering if I need a new a new one or not. The money for a new one is definately not the issue. I'm just wondering if an 852 or 892 is a better helmet. I am playing mens rec for the time being, possibly moving to a little more competitive in a season or two.

if the 892 has better padding id check it out, also the 1052/1092 is pretty comfortable

I think the 852/652 have the same liner, wouldn't do much if you upgrade..if you upgrade get something with EPP liner-- like the 1052. Dunno about the 892..but assuming the same as the 852,

yep, 652 and 852 share the same type of liner and the 1052 upgrades to EPP. personally I prefer the 852 which is just a 1052 without the EPP foam.

I just recently bought a Jofa 690...can't believe I've worn traditional padded helmets. EPP is sooo much nicer...that's my opinion. Head doesn't feel like it's baking in my helmet anymore.

Kinda off topic, but does anyone know what the difference is between Itech HC-95 pro and the HC-95 other than the pro only comes in Medium? Both are lited on that HECC website. Is that another EPP foam vs traditional thing?

Thanks for hijacking my thread....just kidding. According to what I just read on the CCM website, it looks like the 652,852, and 1052 are all the same helmet with each having a better level of lining on the inside. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Just realized that I posted that question in this thread, when I mean to do in the what helmet do nhlers uses w/ the dicussion about regualr foam in helmets that use epp foams, no wonder I didn;t see the the link to the HECC website...mybad.

I'd just stick with the 652 and move up to the 852 in a few years. You should replace your helmet every five years. I guess by that time it'll be the 892. :D
