Anyone wear pants + girdle at the same time?

Recommended Posts

After my third hip injury, I started wondering...

if I wore some extra padding under pants would I avoid messing my hip up again and again.

The only idea I came up with was wearing a (light) roller hockey girdle under my pants. I'd cut off the lower pads (for more flexibility) and just keep the added hip and kidney protection.

Has anyone tried this before, or do you have any other recommendations?

Thanks!

P.S. my problem isn't with my bursitis (sp?), I've actually aggravated some the ligament that connects my left and right hip. It's like having tendonitis in the middle of your hip (I know it sounds crazy, but it really sucks.) The technical term is osteitis pubis in case you get it someday.

You can get it from overuse (like skating) or trauma (like hitting the boards or the ice really hard again and again).

I use a girdle and a padded shell, which is essentially the bottom part of a pair of pants that doesnt have the hip protection and stuff, I just took out some of the lower padding, and so far I love it, I say go for it.

Tackla 5000X or Salming Protector Lite's both have tons of padding in the hip area.

I wore my Salming's for the first time the other night and I think a truck could hit me and I'd be fine.

I got a hip pointer last season so I went out and bought some tackla 5000's and I've been fine since. I don't know if this is the same kind of injury that you have suffered, but I've taken some hits and falls right on my hip and still feel great.

Came of a hip Injury and switched to the Synergy Girdle, No problems since. Might be because it fits better/tighter to the body, cause my old pants were just as protective.

i customized my bauer mdp girdle by my self- you can add padding where ever you want, this works very well for me! still light weight, but more protective!

Having the girdle, a tight fitting piece of equipment, it might offer better protection than a pant in the specific areas since it doesn't move around as much as a pant.

If looking to wear both, Mission came out with the Thorax girdle, which is a small, tight fitting girdle that has padding built in, but no where near as bulky as a regular girdle. Almost looks like a padded jock.

They make compression shorts with a decent amount of padding right over the hip bone for soccer goalies. These would give you extra protection without adding much bulk.

A couple of models:

Lanzera Goalkeeper Slider Short

Sells Neoprene Undershort

You can get these online at Eurosport.

Well how bout for your butt? These roller girdles have much protection in the butt/tailbone area? I'm thinknig about getting some extra padding for that area there. I've looked at pictures online, cept none show you the 360 view of the girdles.
