Mission Fuel 110 AG Review UPDATE

Recommended Posts

OK, I bought a pair of Mission Fuel 110 AG Here is what I think (like anyone cares)

Background, I'm 6' 215 and have played hockey since I was a kid Competitive till I was a young teen then no hockey till I was in my late 20's (My kids got me back into it when I started coaching). My strong point in hockey is my skating. I play Defense for the most part. The skate I'm coming from is the CCM Tack 759EE 8.5 I liked the skate but it was breaking down and getting old, so I thought what the hell I'll get a new pair. A friend of mine owns a LHS and I picked up a pair of the missions.

The mission's are 8.5EE

The skates where baked for 7 minutes in accordance with the stick on the box. I left them on till they cooled. That was 3 days ago. I wanted to play Pick-up today but the session was cancelled BUT they had public skating with only 2 people on the ice, so I laced them up and headed out.

First off they are light, much lighter then my CCM, the skate gave me no pressure points after 30 minutes of skating, starting, stopping and just goofing around doing some power skating drills. I had no rubbing or pressure spots at all, I was very surprised. The pitch 3 I left on neutral and it felt good. I might try the +1 just to see. The blades where way to sharp I like my blades sharp but not like razors. I found I could accelerate very fast with these skate I believe that is the light weight coming to play.

I was a little tentative because I had no equipment on and a short sleeve shirt so if I would have wiped out it could have hurt. But so far they are a very nice pair of skates.

I'll keep you up to date if you have any questions fire away.

____ Update

OK I got a pickup session in on the skates, The skates feel great, no foot pain, nice and light. I found I could turn quicker than my old skates. The Ice was a little soft - hot and humid outside. I had no trouble getting used to the new skate. I liked the game session better than the public skate, feels so different with out a stick in your hands. The game session forces you to play and not think about skates and skating. My impression todate is I'm very happy. :)

i was wondering how these skates would turnout so im glad you did this. im not sure this thread is in the right place tho. there is a "review section" that you could do a complete review on the skates, but you may have to skate on them a few more times.

I want to play a few hockey games in them before I do a full review in the reveiw section.

One thing to add I have a fairly flat arch in my foot and it caused me no pain. I have had problems in a lot of other skates even my ccm.

My God, I must be seeing things. A Just Hockey employee not bashing a Mission product. :)

Hooooo boy...

It's not as funny when you have to explain it.

I find his responses even funnier.

Gee, I was thinking a 215 pounder would be better served in the XP model. Isn't the AG for the smaller, agile folk? I wonder if this will cause premature breakdown or am I not understanding the difference between the AG and XP?

AG is more like the S series while the XP is like the L series. If you like Vapors, go with the XP. If you like a boot that isn't as restrictive in the ankle go with the AG. I'm a little bigger than you and I prefer the S/AG style skate.
