Car Problems

Recommended Posts

My Jeep ignition is stuck in the locked position. Not its not cuz the wheel is locked.

I could get it to work for a while if I fudge with the key a bit but now its really locked. The wheel wont move much and when it does its real tight ... again not locked.

Any ideas? Lego?????

my dad had somethign happen with his old work van. what he did was reach oen hand and pull down on the shifter. this will unlock the wheel, and u can start it. again, this is what he did.problem might be different... or it just might not work. but maybe try.

What kind of shape is the key in?? Maybe you just need a new key because it is worn and won't put the tumblers in the right spot to allow the cylinder to rotate.

I'd agree... replace the key or the tumbler.

That wasnt it either. The toe guy said the thing was pretty hosed and they had to drag it out of the garage. Not good. Guess I may be getting my A4 sooner than later :)

How much are you going to be driving the car? How about this?

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?t...01&aff=national

thats about 2 times bigger then the A4. The new A6 is very nice, my dad has one. it is completly unique, i guess you could say custom ;) . it is navy blue on the outside, and it has a custom cream interior. absolutley beautiful.

What's your point?

The A6 is nice. Just get rid of the front grill and it'd be a great looking car.

The '04 A8 is very understated, IMO. Excellent car.

I don't understand the new style BMW's. I think Bangle is an idiot for deviating from the traditional style. The 5 series is ok for what it is and I think I'll eventually like the 3 series (although I don't think I'd ever consider buying one).

Now the new Audi's all have very good lines and a nice twist on the traditional style. All they have to do is get rid of the front grill (I know it's a modern take on the original grill, but I still don't don't like it).

Yea thats why I am looking to get another BMW 3 series like I have now as I dont care for the new style. The grill on the new A4 ... its grown on me.

I was going to suggest replacing the ignition lock. $300 sounds high though.

Nah. Its what I was expecting from the research I did on it. Its only 90 bucks for the part the the labor is high due as they have to take apart the steering column.

yeah, $300 sounded right to me, anything wrong with the ignition switch means taking part the steering coloum and like ponty said major labor charges. Glad they got it fixed for you.

I guess I was close. Being a parts guy in a Chevy dealership the price is about right too. I have a couple of cylinders that are $150 bucks or so..

I think I mentioned it before, but if you are looking for a new car, I'd recommend a used Audi Allroad. Those are amazing cars (if you like wagons).
