SportChek selling One90's?

Recommended Posts

Listen to shnuggs. Wait a year and you'll get them next year for $350.00 on clearance. That way you'll also have an idea if they are durable as well. Not a good idea to buy a new model of anything until you get back some feedback on them. Look at the eyelet problem with the Vectors. Just some advice, take it or leave it, your perogative.

Just wait till they blow them out at the end of season youll get em for 350.00$$ :P

I still dont know who would buy top end skates at a department store. Granted youll pay slightly more at a place like Just Hockey etc. etc. But youll get a professional fitting you - heat molding them--- a bunch of free sharpenings, and help if anything doesent feel right or goes wrong with your skates in the future.

Dont think they will sell at sport check -- until the clearance sale that is.

Ok so your saying that limited stores that Sport Check has that will be carrying the One90 wont have any staff at all that could fit the skate??

Wow lets see so even if they didnt know as much as you they couldnt say perhaps review the extensive information on the bauer website first before buying them?

** Not knocking Just Hockey or any of the other Etc's there but lets get real most staff will research it on there own as they all work on commision (the stores metioned) and would want to sell the skate and make the dosh!!!!!

You dont make any money if they get returned!!!!!!

Ya thats basically what i am saying. I am not talking about One90's specifically but all skates in general. True they probably know somewhat about heat molding them and putting them on your feet -- but thats preety much it. They dont have a clue about which skates fit differently - width - toebox etc. etc. Ask them to punch out a skate for you -- they cant do that. Ask them about your profile or heel lifts all you will get is blank look. Take them to get sharpened - it feels like your skates are on the wrong foot when you skate. Your holder is missaligned or something doesent feel right-- they cant help you.

True they do want to sell there skates and get money -- but most of the sales people make up stuff to sell the product -- which i have heard countless number of times in the store and people on this site who have worked at sportcheck can tell you. They also dont provide refunds once skates have been worn even slightly so you cant return it even if you wanted to.

This isnt just with hockey equipment -- its same thing if your buying a expensive softball bat from them.

A department store selling multiple items simply cant come close to the service of a speciality store. Especially in something that neeed to be handled skillfully - like hockey skates.

What store would? Would you want to buy "slightly" used skates when you think you're buying new ones?

Just Hockey -- brother has terrible feet -- gave up hockey fpr 6 years because of it --- took him there -- they doctored up the skates - was still hesitant --- they said take them - if they still hurt you bring em back within 30 days --- full money back.

My bro has been playing ever since.

Was just trying to make a point that once the skates are sold they are sold - commision earned-- no need for sportchek to worry about returns.

Getting a guy at Sportcheck who really knows his hockey equipment is a crapshoot at best. They don't have the expertise, sometimes you get a guy who knows, but most times you don't. Used to work in one, the hard goods guys only learn from pamphlets about the equipment, no real in-depth stuff. Though that was only my store, other could be better trained I suppose....I don't know how many times I got blank looks though when I ask about radius and difference between holders. Its especially suspect when one employee told me not to buy a skate because they hurt his feet....

699 for a pair of skates of that calibre is a good deal. i paid 699 for my XXX's, and everyone was told the One90's would be 799, which is understandable. So when a new skate that is supposedly undeniably better then the previous years top model is released for the same price it's phenomonal.

Yep, my ex-LHS is selling One90's for 799.99

They do tend to overprice things though. IE, they're selling stealths for 339.99 where most places sell them for 299.99, so I think they go by straight MSRP.
