removing numbers from a jersey?

Recommended Posts

i was wondering if anyone knows how to remove plastic numbers from a jersey. i am on a new team and want to use a similar jersey rather then buy a new one. anyways, the jersey i have has the same number as someone on the team..is it possible to remove numbers or do i have to buy the new jersey. any help would be appreciated.

Take it to your LHS or to a screenprinting shop. Chances are they'll have a special solvent that dissolves the glue and peels the number off. You won't want to do this yourself, the solvent is nasty and it can make a real mess. They should be able to put your new number on also.

If the numbers are heat sealed then you're going to be stuck buying another jersey as heat sealing basically melts the numbers into the mesh or air knit.

Not true. See my previous post--it refers to heat sealed numbers.

If the numbers don't come off easily maybe you can modify the number you have.

For example, 20 could be 28 if you add a bit to the middle of the zero.

What-- you don't want to use sock tape to alter the numbers like in pee-wees when someone forgets their jersey?

Heh. I did that at the New Player Skate my first season. Of course I was rocking the ghetto cheap roller hockey shin guards, pants, and elbow pads, too. :D
