Bauer 8090s vs 8000s

Recommended Posts

As you may or may not know, pro players are picky...Are the skates still skatable and in decent condition? Sure, but if the pro player notices anything different they order another pair.

They took the "84 games" from the experience Laaksonen had the first year he skated Supple Fit. He wore one pair for the entire season. Justin has the skates at the office.

Hey Justin, I am told by my LHS that Mission takes things out of a product to reduce weight and Bauer uses technology to mininze weight. They do not sacrifice durability, they enhance performance. This is why there are over 300 players wearing Bauer skates in the NHL and only few wearing your models.....

Pretty sad that this had to be your first post on such a great site!

Very true. I looked back at some of Justin's post and I noted he never once slandered another company's product. Obviously, Justin is partial to Mission...but he has never said a negative against Bauer, TPS, Easton, etc

It's also funny b/c if you do a search on this site or talk to your LHS owner you will probably find that the Vapor XX skate is not known for its durability. I can even comment on this from a first-hand experience with these skates. Let's just say my Vapor XX skates didn't last me as long as I would have liked them (or paid for them) to. I don't own Missions so I can't comment on them and I wouldn't be commenting on the Bauers if it hadn't been for the chuckle I got from the earlier post.

And somehow the V12. What I heard is that Bauer/Nike just took the best features of all their top-skates and combined them into one.

So, i did not want to start a new thread, so i dust this one off.

Im looking for a second pair of skates to use for pick up hockey and freelance sessions. What about the V12? There is one on Ebay and as far as i know the V12 fit is quite similar to the 8090. And what about the size? Im fine in a 8.5EE 8090, the one on Ebay is 9.5EE - Could that fit? Just to give some examples, i wore a friends (too narrow) Vapor XXX skate and 9.5EE was fine lengthwise.

Edit:

I just emailed the seller and he said the holders are 288. Normally, the skate which fit fine are 280. Guess they wont fit, but im asking YOU!

I doubt it would fit...I had a 6.5 in 8090 and went to a 7 V12 and it was way to big. I also found the V12 to be worse in every aspect than the 8090. The V12s made it feel like I was skating in casts or something, no forward flex what so ever, and heavy as bricks.
