It may be a team option, but I'm about 90% sure it CAN be 2 years.

#1 priority: give Sedins raises, resign Carter, attempt to resign Jovo

Sign a player who replace Bert on the top line-Elias,Parrish or Arnott or Guerin

IF, Jovo doesnt resign replace him with another good top4 Dman such as Pavel Kubina, Jay Mckee or Filip Kuba

Trade Clouts for a 2nd or 4rd line player who can produce and possibly even play on the top 2 lines if there is an injury

Sign a faceoff specialist who can put up more than 15pts in a season like as Yanic Perrault, Mike Sillinger, stephane yelle or peca :D

get rid of Wienrich and Park theyve done little or nothing during their time in Vancouver

I guess we'll finally know once the NHL rules on it all...however...Eazy, looks as if you could be right. Here is what I was told tonight by an agent:

"since he had one year left, what would count against the cap would be spread over a period that is double of what was left, or two years. The count is his salary minus the savings, including bonuses that the team realized."

Yep, it looks as if the buy-out will be spread over two years. The Stars will save 4.5 million this year, but lose 2.2 million the year after.

DALLAS STARS-

Guerin and Arnott are gone now, so that will free up about 2million a season from guerin and around 3million from not signing arnott. the salary cap was moved from 39million to 44million which gives them another 5million. so far the stars have 10 million to spend. If they also do not sign mitchell then there will be another 2million...without a raise in salary. a total of around 12 million the stars COULD have to play with.

somehow they need to get rid or niinimaa.

i would like to see them trade for another powerforward, since arnott and guerin are out. they should sign Chara.

The pens:

Get rid of Gonchar and LeClaire for pretty much the best deal anyone offers them for either of them. Oh, and Thibault too. Get Pronger somehow. and get Malkin to come over. and some defense wouldn't hurt.

Add coaching plus playing time and watch the youngsters grow into a real NHL caliber team, just like a chia pet. :D

Despite earlier in the season Gonchar really pulled through in the end. I'd keep him. As for Leclair he needs a new home but that would mean they need a veteran (a good one) to fill in the spot. The team is too good to screw it up this season. Some chemistry and they're good to go.

Go out and pick up a solid d man like Chara or Blake.

Also try to trade Nabokav because Toskala is just about to break out into his prime.

And last make sure they lock in there young prospects.

Henrik is clearly going to be the starter, and I would like to see Montoya try his hand in the show, but I don't see Weekes staying.

Ozo the bozo and Poti should get the boot. I do like the idea of a McKee on the team, and as unlikely as it seems, someone like a Raflaski could help pull the defense together IMO.

That makes (in no particular order) Malik-Tyutin-Kasper-Pock-Staal-KcKee-Rafalski

I would love to see Ovy in a Rangers uniform, again as unlikely as that seems, but I digress. Sykora should get resigned and stuck on a line with Jagr and Nylander, instead of Straka. The Energy line should stay as is. Immonen and Giroux should come up to the show and along with Prucha, they could be a pretty good line. Ward should stay, along with Betts, and possibly Hossa.
