More Forward lean....

Hey guys I'm in a pair of Bauer Vapour XXX size 10 EE, have had them for about 10 months but now would like a little more forward lean, how do I do this without heel lifts, thanks I sharpen them 9 / 16 if this makes a difference?

the hollow you cut your skates won't make a difference. If you want more forward lean, you'll have to get your skates profiled.

get Dr Scholls heel cups for under your insoles and try it before you insert plastic ones.

NEVER put anyting inside your skate add a lift it does nothing but move your heel from the spot it is supposed to be in.

The lift always goes between the boot and the holder.

I was wondering the same thing, Jbyun, sounds like it's a matter of thinning the steel on one portion of the blade and leaving it thicker (taller) on the other...

No?

well I think that heel lifts will just encourage a deeper knee bend because the boot is leaning forward from the holder, while profiling gives you a forward lean using the entire skate; kinda like a hi-lo setup in rh.

Yes that is true but combined with a minimal forward lean on a profile you can get someone that say has a longer leg and doesnt bend enough to lean forward over there skates to get a better stride.

I work with 1 OHL team as well as my 2 and with another guy who Scouts for Windsor and also the new Orangeville team all get done like that. Well Orangeville will coming the end of the summer.

I also worked with some of the US Womesn Team before torino to get them to where they needed to be with a better stride and the one that needed it the most made a huge stride in her skating and ended up playing a ton more after getting it done.

As for the question about how do you know? Well I can answer some of your questions but i really have to see you skate to get the best look at what maybe be an issue.

For the one from the US team i had them give me a tape of her playing and then talked to her and made the adjustments from there.

that's a good pt. on how an insert could misalign the heel. but how do you get around that if you want to use a different sole insert (one that didn't come with the skate)?

for example, first time out on my new skates I felt really back on my heels, so I'm experimenting with a replacement insole (LifeFitness Sport-Link extreme orthotic). I haven't been on the ice yet, but already I see that the new sole lifts my heel just a bit (1/8" I'd say).

Would this do more harm than good? does it matter that my skates are hardly broken in yet and would form to the contours of the replacement insole?
