ipod warrenty feedback...buyer beware

Recommended Posts

I am not saying that people will stop listening to music, I am saying that the people who purchased an iPod or any mp3 player for a purpose that it wasnt designed for (i.e. fashion, fitting into to a group) will eventually stop using it because it wont be HOT anymore. just for sh*ts and gigles I googled "What is a fad" and this was the first result: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fad reading that may give you a better understanding of what im trying to convey. Also, take a glance under 2000's fads, the have the iPod on there. It is illogical to believe that iPod's can maintain the status symbol they have now, because of the simple law of supply and demand. Once enough people have them. their will no longer be a demand and thus no need to supply more. Just something to think about.

I think the situation we are looking at is the same as the sony Walkman, people still listen to music but apart from nostalgists and collectors, im not sure anyone has a walkman.

and if we are exchanging videos, I found an interesting one: http://www.theroyalwe.org/1984.html Hopefully everyone will realize what it is satirizing.

That is assuming the iPod will remain static. It will not. At a social level, the iPod may be a fad, but you are assuming that most of their sales come from trendy people. That just simply is not true.

I don't even understand what that means. If "at a social level", the iPod is a fad, then how could it be that most of their sales would not come from trendy people ?

Sorry, but you'll never convince me that most people did not buy their iPods for either fashion reasons and/or because everyone else has one.

Can you still only buy iPods with white earbuds, even if your iPod is a different color ? If so, give me ONE reason that should be so, that is not "conspicuous consumption".

A lot of people did buy the iPod because it is the cool thing to do. But the doom and gloom story that the iPod will be here today and gone tommarow is just not going to happean. They may not sell 15 million iPods a year 5 years down the line, but they will still have an 80% market share. Just because something is a fad to some people doesnt mean it will fade to all people

the best feature of the iPod is its simplicity.

Agreed. Before the 1st generation iPod came out, putting music onto mp3 players or should i even say, mini disks, was quite the task even for the technologically advanced. I remember that Sony required multiple conversions of one song just to get it on the damn player. Then when the ipod came along it was a simple add and go.

The iPod is just a great marketed, overpriced, inferior product. As said before, there are many other choices out there with more and/or better capabilites, for less money.

It wasn't simple at all for Windows users until iTunes was released. Windows media player or whatever the hell it was that came standard with the iPod was such a bitch to use to transfer songs on. If iTunes wasn't released, I don't think there would be nearly as many people owning iPods.

I wouldnt go as far to say inferior. Lets compare the current 30 GB 5G iPod to its closest counterpart: Creative Zen Vision M

The iPod: 299 (269 with student discount)

The Zen: 299 (no discount avalible)

Extra features of the zen: Integrated FM radio

O wow, an FM RADIO, that is sick. I prefer the interface and the controlls of the iPod, as do most people.

Apple just made a solid product and marketed it best. Think about this, how many out of the loop (technology wise) people have said they wanted an iPod, but when you threw back at them, oh you want an mp3 player, they shot you a cold confused stare.

Couldnt agree with you more. iTunes is part of the simplicity equation. You plug it in, it updates, bang. Didnt you have to use like that music match program or something? Musta been painfull.

Music Match, thats what it was. It was such a complicated process to move songs to the iPod. If iTunes hadn't have come out, I seriously doubt I would have continued buying iPods.

I think the saddest part about those sneakers are that they are real. Apple may be able to design hardware, but they are not exactly karl lagerfeld when it comes to kicks. Although these were from the late 80s, so they probably looked SICK back then.

Well, its clear to see that everyone has their own opinion on this matter. So without resorting to personal attacks, I feel we've beaten the dead horse on this subject. To each his own.

It with be the best purchase you have EVER made.

I got a compaq and it is going awsome, so i figure it out that the HP are as good as compaq is(same compagnie). but top of the line, So go with HP.

or even ACER are making very good laptop. Also, Intel processor are junk! AMD is really doing a great job. No kidding, my sempron 3200 is running faster than my new dell duo processor p4 3ghz...

Update: I receive my Ipod 2 days ago. Conclusion:

-My ipod is more scratched than before.

-They format my HD,even if no trouble was found!

-And, for sure, my problems is still there.

Now, i called them , they said i can return it within 60 days(i think) for no cost if the problem persist, i don't know if i should to only get my ipod even more scratched again and get another no trouble found and drive 30minutes to get to the nearest UPS store...GREAT SERVICE.

Take two wires and put them up to your car battery terminals, and then shove them in the bottom of ur ipod. You should see some sparks. More then likely it won't turn on afterwards.

You're problem will be gone.
