It's kind've hard to call Chara the toughest when he only fights middleweights.

Over-rated, over paid ... who cares?

The Bruins are putting together one HELL of a team with Chara, Savard, Mara, and Donovan for that matter.

Go B's.

BOUT FREAKIN TIME!

Theo,

The NHL is all about the now. Look at the Avs and to a lesser degree the Wings of how it can go down hill in a hurry.

Like it or hate it thats the reality.

I for one am sick and tired of worrying about the financials of the game. Its suppose to be fun ... no?

They may not be cup contenders as of right now, but they are a hell of a lot closer. In looking at the league as of right now, I can't think of one team that looks like they'll be odds on favorites to win their divison, let alone the Cup.

Well, there was a reason why I was so outspoken during the lockout about the pennie pinching billionare owners...But you are missing my point.

If you want to aquire more guys or retain any promising youth you may have (Bergeron) the 7.5 million may make it kind of hard.

You guys are better, but not close to cup contenders right now. Especially w/ the playoff choker Chara leading the way

For the Avs the point of letting Foppa and Foote go was to make room for Milan and Tanguay.

That plan does not always work either Theo. All teams can take on ONE player at Chara's salary and thats it. Smart teams will sign other guys at one year deals only in the 5 plus million range.

The Bruins are the favorites now to win the division and are closer to a cup than you think.

The season will prove who is right on this one.

Insult. Hell no. I am just pissed that this new POS CBA screws teams like the Avs is all :)

Chara is a bit over paid but he will bring wins and excitement back to Boston. Point is you have to live for this year, to a degree, as teams will change big time year-after-year until the salary cap is at a high enough number.

That my only point in my responses.

Pissed? Its just hockey right? ;)

My only question is, have they really improved over last season?

Is Chara better than Thornton?

Will Savard be better than Zhamnov?

Is Mara better than Boynton and Leetch?

Will Shanny replace Samsonov?

Will Murray just come back and start scoring?

Boston had an awful season, but they started the year as a team expected to do much more.

I think they will do better than expected. Last year was just a bad year for everyone especially with the big trade in the middle of the year. The Bergeron line will be better. The defense is way better and hopefully there won't be any players holding out in the beginning of the year because it always affects them negatively when they miss training camp.

All the guys they have right now are the makings of a solid core but didn't they have a great nucleus and an abundance of roster spots this time last year?

Is Chara better than Thornton? NO!

Will Savard be better than Zhamnov? Slam dunk YES!

Is Mara better than Boynton and Leetch? The real argument is Mara and Chara vs -- Answer is yes.

Will Shanny replace Samsonov? Shanny hasnt signed yet. If he does its very "likely"

Will Murray just come back and start scoring? If the Bruins sign Shanny Murray is done and will be traded.

Will this years B's be better than last years? Probably. Its all about hope and excitement right now and the B's have that market corned this off-season for a change.

One more question, who gets the start in net and is he really a number one that the team will be confident in?

Thomas will and NO is is not someone they can rely on... but in Boston they think they can or at least old management did. If the new management is smart they will get a solid real starter in net.

Personally, I would love to see the franchise fall apart some more... but that's just because I hate everything Boston. :)

Nice try pal but I'm sorry you're wrong. Thomas will not start, Toivenen will, why do you think they traded Raycroft. Toivenen was earning his #1 spot last year before his injury, so there is no reason why he shouldnt start. Yes Thomas did a helluva job for their depleting team down the stretch, but he will take the back seat to the younger and IMO better Toivenen. They may split time, but it will take a Raycroft-esque meltdown for Toivenen to lose the starting spot.

Edit- And Thomas was as reliable as anyone, it was their blueline that was suspect all season. If the D-men can stay healthy and the firepower we have upfront do their thing, watch out for my beloved Bruins. :)

I'm pretty sure that they were/are planning on using Thomas until Toivenen is ready... which is a bad idea. Either way I don't care.
