Sprung Hockey

Recommended Posts

I just got Sprung!

First off I would like to say thanks to Keith, his frames do offer the same level of customer service he brings.

I play outdoor on a roll-on cement surface I am about 5'11 160lbs.

It was humid and rained the day before, so the corners were slick, and normally dust/pollen/dirt makes skating interesting.

Normally I lose an "edge", cut to sharp, or just plain fall over, I've played on sportcourt and wooden surfaces and love them. The cement is alright but I just can't seem to skate as well on it. My axles actually get grinded down from skating and just slipping and falling over.

To make a long story shorter, this is the first time in a long time that I didn't fall, and that is saying a lot considering the rink was wet. I'm sure many of you have played on surfaces like this under those conditions.

About the only time I remembered coming close to falling was when I stopped in front of the net, I didn't expect to stop that fast and about went down the other way.

Cornering is tight, I didn't notice an overall increase in speed but this was the first time playing after having Thanksgiving off. I didn't have much fatigue in my legs, and again that is after having a week off. One thing I also noticed was when standing in front of the net they keep me in place better. Instead of just getting pushed out the suspension seems to give a little as well.

Great job and keep up the good work. I can't imagine the new ones being better but I'm definalty sold on these.

I installed these myself as I don't have a LHS around me, installation is a pain, but thats not a knock on the frames difficulty. T-nuts and screws worked good (thanks Keith), I didn't notice any type of flex or instability but it is after only one game. I don't expect to have any issues with them but will keep an eye on it.

Didn't intend it to be this long but wanted to cover just about everything.

Hey guys!!

We're ending the closeout model A6 sales December 15th.

That will insure us enough parts to more than cover everybody. We'd rather have parts laying around than not enough.

It's been a workhorse product that has really helped us along, and we're very proud of it.

New model on our site by January 1st.

Thanks MSH.

Keith

hey, keith. I want to put the new model, size large on a Graf 705 size 11W. can I do this myself? It would be a hassle for me to go to a LHS to get this done.(hour and a half away). also, I'm a big guy, 6'2"-275lbs. will they hold up for me? I play on the "rough"- outside, dig?

any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you're not Homer Simpson, and simple directions don't cause brain shutdown, you can mount them yourself with 8-32 T Nuts and screws.

The 10.5 is the max you can use the medium on. And, depending on the boot sole, the new model covers the "no sole zone" down the center of a lot of ice boots better.

I'm currently using a dab of two part epoxy under low sole spots on NBH type soles up front. Usually don't need it under more than one or two holes to level the sole. This supports the sole so it doesn't get pulled in at an angle by the mounting plate. Let the epoxy dry first and make sure it's level with the sole around it.

The medium wheel base is 9 5/8" which is a little longer than a reg medium, so it will work on a 10.5 as well as the large. A lot of 10.5s don't want a larger frame.

I've mounted and worn 10.5 Bauers and they were great, but I'm just under 6', so I'm not putting a ton of leverage on my feet. We also have some 12 Missions that are in our sample skates and get used all the time.

The 10.5 Bauers have walked twice now. We eventually got them back the first time, but no luck yet on the second time. So they're working for somebody well enough to really want them!

mreeves, I mounted them myself, helps if you have a dremel tool as well. The Rivets are a pain.

Keith,

Will the new rocker arms fit on the old chassis?

The new model is testing out better than anything I've ever gotten from China. They all look perfect and I can't break the arms by jumping up and down on them. And I mean exactly that. One jump or stomp like I'm talking about puts a big bend in a standard aluminum frame.

I'm sending out six pair today to be independently impact tested. I'll know from that next week before the holidays. If they do OK, we'll order immediately.

We're confident enough to send out some of the pre-orders from what we have left, if guys don't mind the registration mark on the logo being a little wonky on one side (Doubt if you can find the mistake). Only have five all white and seven all red pairs this week.

If you preordered and want one of these pairs email me, keith@sprung-inline.com

The rest will be here next week and will be sent out then.

They'll go on sale on our site by January 1.

And here's some new pictures.

Number 1 is a pair of size 10.5 Vector 10s with the new alloy resin frame.

Number 2 is my 170s with the natural color red dyed frame.

Keith,

You mentioned that the second pair with the red frames are the natural color. Are the new frames going to be offered in the natural color because I thought that they would only be offered in white unless you did the pre-release special where you could choose red or blue rockers. I want a set but I have been waiting on the new frame due to my size and weight and I didnt get in on the pre-release deal because its Christmas time and I thought I would wait until after the holidays when, you know all the gift buying, is done.

I would like to dye a set of the new frames in black with gold colored rockers to match a new pair of older style 652 Super Tacks with gold graphics. Will that be possible to do with the new frames?

Thanks;

Rick Henry

They're going to be all white. We're still experimenting with the natural as a custom order maybe. We may use all red to go with our red team pants and jearsey trim.

The new ones will dye black and gold very well. Use yellow dye and leave em in till they're gold. And black the same.

Keith

i emailed this guy in NY who sells skates with sprung frames on them & this is what he said:

Hiya,

The standard size Sprung frames I can offer you will fit skates up to size 10.5D. I can offer you a pair or frames with your choice or RED, ORANGE, or YELLOW rocker arms. You'll also get a pair of spare rocker arms (in the rare event that an arm breaks), a can of bearing lubricant, and a Nike Hockey Hat. The complete package including shipping if $75.

any reason i shouldn't go for that?

A friend of mine up North.

Go for it! The guarantee is still good for a year from when you buy them.

Once you skate on the sprung frame...you will realize that you would have paid $150 and still got a good deal.

hockey.com has pro and 1052 tacks for like $100.

I just picked up an old pair of Bauer Air 70 ice skates (circa 98 I think) for my Sprungs I bought last week. Found some all white blem wheels for them too, so for those like me who like black, white and gray it should look pretty nice when I get them together.
