these arent the old cheap plastic chassis that started out on inline skates in the early 90s.these frames are a well thought out design, made with a very durable material, believe me,these are great frames -take some time read thru some of the 550 replies and over 24,500 views on this topic, you deside if there worth giving a shot.everyone who skates on these frames love them.

I just picked up an old pair of Bauer Air 70 ice skates (circa 98 I think) for my Sprungs I bought last week. Found some all white blem wheels for them too, so for those like me who like black, white and gray it should look pretty nice when I get them together.

Best money I have spent on hockey! Aside for the league fees to play of course ;-)

I play outdoors since I live in the south and I finally have my agility and cornering back! Of course playing this way for the past 6 years has changed my game so I need get out of my old habits.

You won't be sorry.

go to sprung-hockey.com and check it out.

Do you mean http://www.sprung-inline.com?

it's splitting hairs, but sprunghockey.com leads into sprung-inline.com, so either works.

Hopefully this time next week, maybe a bit later I should have a skeptic's review. I'm not sure if the sprung frame will live up to the hype on here, but it is because of the positive reviews that I picked up one of the closeout A6 frames. I haven't skated much in 9 months, so I'm just getting back on skates now. I figure that will be the best way to try them out since I'm not comfortable on anything again just yet.

hey, keith. change that to a graf 705 11W. Large? or medium new model? I'm willing to wait a few months.

I don't know how Graf's are sized, but if you wear a street shoe larger than 12, the medium is going to be getting short. 10.5 OK, 11 Large. 10.5's the crossover size for some of the companies.

My bad...you typed sprung-hockey.com and I only knew about sprung-inline.com. Sprung-hockey.com didn't work so I thought you mistyped the addy. In your last post you typed sprunghockey.com which I now see does go to sprung-inline.com

sdcopp, when you do go skateing on the sprungs, get some thoughts to us on the mod.have fun ,definitly a cool ride.

when I get them done I'm heading to an outdoor hockey park with some nasty glazed concrete and my new Wicked 7's as well to compare side by side. The surface out there is usually a bit slick, so for the advantages people talk about with better grip and cornering it should be apparent right away. Like I said, I'm a bit of a skeptic on any new tech with skates, and barring the Rocker chassis, I've tried it all.

If they are legitimately up to the hype here, I'll have myself two new sets of Wicked-Sprungs. If not, I didn't break the bank to at least try them out and give an objective review. I got a minute of Luke Storno's time several months back with the Team USA tryouts here, and he was very gung-ho about them. On the other hand we have Tour sponsered guys here that are a bit skeptical like myself, so we'll see where the rubber meets the road for me.

sd,

if you've got the time, since you've tried everything but the rocker and the sprung, i'd like to hear your thoughts on how the other ones stack up in your opinion.

For me, I've tried the old school spacer flipping fixed rocker, the Hummer, the pre-Vanguard mission Hi-Lo, and the Kuzak Split Frame. They all have their benefits but the Split Frame gets the final nod.

I've skated Sure grip 305 flat and rockered with smaller wheels, Final Factor Flat, 405 rockered with spacers, 505 flat, Vibe 2, Mission standard Hi-Lo both 4 on the floor and pre-rockered front wheel, rolled around a little on Vanguard Hi-Lo, Nexed 2 degree Hi-Lo, Kuzak split, V-Form 16 degree original, Hummer, One-Up and Motor flat frames.

Of all of those, I loved the Final Factor and the Nexed 2 degree, but I think a lot of it is how the boot feels mounted up to the chassis. I go for the ski boot type fit, tall boots. I skated the Final Factor/Tour TR8000 combo for a looong time, since Final offered a med frame with a shorter wheelbase and just increased the size of the mounting plate from small to med to accomodate the short wheelbase. At a normal skating rink, the smaller wheelbase felt better cutting back and forth.

The 2 degree on the Stingers just felt solid and kept going no matter how bad I beat on them. This years Wicked's with the Vanguard have a similar solid feel on the chassis-boot pairing. The Vanguard has a neutral pitch I like, not on my toes or heels too much.

Having said all that, I might not be the ideal candidate for Sprung, I might be. It really depends on if it feels like a solid frame, or like the old flat frame turned rocker where I felt like I was going face first to the floor all the time.

sd,

thanks for the response. thats cool that the Vanguard has a neutral pitch to it. my biggest gripe with the standard Hi-Lo is that the forward pitch feels awkward to me and i try to counter it with my posture and in the end my legs end up feeling more fatigued from that battle. my gripe with the Hummer is that i've got small feet and the long frame combined with the all 80's, makes the small quick "flick" movements with the feet seem like they take more work than usual. juggling a lose puck or kicking the puck out of a scrum in the corners just seems a bit harder with the Hummer. if i had bigger feet i think i would have no complaints.

Got my Sprung's yesterday, and by Saturday night they should be mounted on my RBK ice skates. I'll let you know what I think in a quick review then. I've read some positive reviews, and also some skeptical ones, but having said that, I'm pretty pumped about trying them out.

i mounted my first sprung frame last night, alittle less then 2hours,the 8-32nd t-nuts were cheap(4 for a dollar)and grabbed some machine round head screws from work.i put them on my graf 705s,all in all very easy, measure two maybe three times to make sure your lined up .use a pilot drill first, then use the right size bit for the t-nuts,after mounting my first pair, the rest will be a breeze.

i have a stupid question that i don't want to trouble everyone starting a thread for, but maybe someone can help me in here.

my current main skates are tour's, size 8.5. my outdoor skates are ccm size 10. they both fit me. i know ccm & tour are *supposed* to have the same 1.5 less than your shoe sizing. so this makes no sense to me. my ice skates are a very tight 8.

i'm trying to order a skate online, without trying it on, which i hate, to convert to sprung.

i can't decide 8 or 8.5 if i go with a pair of tacks. i'm thinking maybe 8D if i can find it. but i don't know.

CCM is supposed to fit 1.5 sizes down, tour is not. tour is supposed to fit 1 size down (i've seen other people state tours fit 1.5 size down and spreading that misinformation should stop)

i find your skate sizing VERY strange...i wear size 7.5 tour and size 7 in CCM. CCMs should fit you a half size below your tours. 10 ccms fitting you is very odd.

Got my (closeout) frames in the mail this afternoon and was able to get them mounted on a pair of 652 Tacks. Thanks, iceburg for the suggestion of filling the holes from the original ice holder with epoxy--it worked very well. I finished mounting them after daylight, so I wasn't able to try them out other than the downstairs hardwood.

I'm off to Virginia for Christmas with the family tomorrow. I hope to get some pictures and a better description about mounting them within the next couple of days.
