Tuuks on One 90's

What do you hate exactly? I found that 90% of the first sharpenings are done incorrectly, that is, the hollow was not established, so the skater tends to blame the skate when it could be just a poor sharpening. How many times have they been sharpened?

I dont like the turning on them..i dont have clean turns and tend to do a face slide every once in a while..i have had them sharpened 15 times

the Power holders have longer runners than custom+ and even the LS2s. That's why you aren't able to turn as cleanly. I had similar issues going from some old CCMs with ICM holders to Vapor XXs with LS holders. Longer runners are generally faster, but not as agile. What were you skating in before the One90s?

If you have had them sharpened that many times already if anyone had tried at all to adjust anything I would say you might need new steel....the steel is lower than most of the regular steel. (a performance thing getting you close to the ice) If you you have a bunch of steel left say over 13/32nds I would say a shorter profile is order with maybe a deeper hollow?

When getting your skates sharpened does the guy do it like a U or does he go more across the wheel like following the blade and not rounding the toe and heel?

A thought one of the advantages of the LS line of holders was the height they reached? At least I remember that being a spec when they were first released.

You may be thinking of the holder runner combo as a package. But the runner itself is one of the shortest out there. Although being shorter and having a stiffer holder makes the turning when profiled and sharpened right for the player the best it can be. In thoery~

No I'm talking about the actual holder, I remember Bauer saying they were the first to have a back pillar xxcm tall, which is why I don't understand the shorter runner.

I can check for actual size diffrence but I am pretty sure the height in the heel vs the 2 is the same. Oh sorry LSP 2 vs Power as for the Tuuk I will check all 3.

That wasnt mentioed though in our tech meeting with them last week. Good question to pass on to them and also I will check myself.

I took a caliper to both the LS2 Power and the Custom+ with the following results: The holder on the LS2 Power is approximately .070" (1.78 mm) taller than on the Custom+. The steel height (amount that protrudes from holder) is the same: both approximately 0.500".

The LS2 Power also feels taller (like the Prolite 3 and E-Pro) that the Custom+.

Can't say anything about LS or LS2.

Yeah I don't like LS's either--don't like the height. I had to put Custom+'s back on my XXX's.

Didn't JR have a say in the decision to make the LS2 Power higher???

I thought that he made a recommendation to make them a tad higher.

Good lord. I doubt I sharpen my skates 15 times a year.

Not me.

And I shall quote the illustrious Notorious B.I.G. on this one -

"I ain't that powerful...yet."

Ahh to dream...

The LS power runners are longer but not where it counts. They are longer in the heel and NO part of the length that's longer runner touches the ice. If the runner is "faster", it's only because the radius is longer, nothing else.

not to question what you're saying, because I admittedly know very little, but doesn't the longer runner allow for a longer radius?

Also, when turning, your weight is shifted onto your heel, thus a longer heel on the runner would, as I see it, adversely affect turning more than an extension of the runner anywhere else (I guess the toe would be the only other place, except when talking about radius and the balance point/pitch.)

Does any of that make sense?
