Crosby's glove

Gill can't hit that hard--Crosby has to be embellishing in that photo. He's a great player. My only suggestion is to tighten up that helmet. Unlike Gretzky, he has been and will be hit.

Its not like people thought Joe Juneau was garbage his rookie year when he got 100+ points. They all thought he'd be the real deal, too.

Juneau also played with Adam Oates in his prime, who did Crosby have to play with? This is not a fair argument.

Juneau also didn't have to play in a watered-down NHL either and they had actual road trips to the West Coast back then.

He wasn't 18 by any means, but once upon a time Joe Juneau got 100+ points as a rookie. Then again the NHL was good back then.

Derr? 24, but who's counting.

What Crosby did was much more impressive. juneau played in around 15 games for the bruins the year before he scored 100 pts as a so called "rookie". Imagine the numbers Crosby could put up if he played with players the caliber or Oates, Neely, Bourque.

I'm sorry, Joe Juneau Vs. Crosby is a terrible arguement.

Crosby- 18

Juneau- 24

Crosby, 102 points

Juneau, 102

C-2nd worst team

J- 2nd best team

C- Colby Armstrong

J- Adam Oates

Also Mack, you make it sound like the NHL was that much better 13 years ago, there is only 6 more teams now. There is more of a chance of a 8th over 1st in the first round now than there was back then.

Again, the point is it's ONE YEAR. Do I expect him to have a steady, solid career let alone a better one than Juneau? Yes, but I wouldn't say it's guaranteed.

And yes, the NHL was better in the 90s. Still-effective Gretzky, Messier, Yzerman, Fedorov, Bourque, Lemieux, Lindros, Mogilny, Bure, etc, etc, etc.

It's not just the stars that contribute to the league, I'm saying that the average player now days is better than 13 years ago. All those guys you mentioned were incredible players who dominated the game, and I believe that Crosby will be just as good as some of them. If Crosby played in that era, he would not be left out of that list of guys.

Edit: I may be running my mouth a bit, as there is a possibility Crosby has a career ending injury anytime he steps on the ice. Lets just hope it doesn't happen.

I don't think the average player is any better now than before. You said there were six less teams in the NHL 13 years ago, which I'll take as true. Those six teams each dress 20 players each night so that means there are 120 more players in the league, plus all the guys who play half of the games or are call ups due to injuries, etc. How can a league that expands by 25% increase the talent of all of their players in that short of a time period? Keeping the talent level even to what it was pre-expansion is a very daunting task, one that I don't think completely happened. I guess you could say that the more Euros in the league have helped raised the level of play, but I can name just as many worthless Euros as I can NA's.

anyone who bashes crosby is just jealous of how much he would own you at anything

Yes, and anyone who defends Crosby goes to bed at night with hand lotion and a box of kleenex, fantasizing about game-using Crosby's "stick".

you guys would think so wouldnt you

do a google search or you tube for hurling or gaelic football

They hit as hard as hockey, don't wear pads and of course, its a completely foreign game to him, where I grew up with it, and played them all my life, so would have to fancy my chances.

I bet I'm better on the guitar, bodhran and tin whistle too
