NEW GRAF G5 ULTRA

Recommended Posts

i recently got a pair of graf ultra G35s. they are amazing. they are light and very comfortable. i got them because my old vapor 30's were hurting my bauer bone. i chose the G35s over a pair of white Ultra G5s because they had more room in the forefoot and more depth. overall i think they are the best skates i have worn so far. i just need to see how they hold up to abuse.

You should take them back the shop where you bought them and they should be the ones to battle Graf on your behalf. That said, Graf isn't known for their customer service or quick turnaround on repairs. As for Tuuks, it all depends on what you want to change. If you want a more "springy" holder, then go ahead and make the swap. Otherwise, I would just have the steel profiled to be shorter and less agressively pitched.

I saw them at a total hockey pro shop in the chicago suburbs, but it is not on their web site yet, and may never be, but they might be the only total hockey to have them.

For those of you who own any of the Graf Ultra G's....

Have you gotten any big skate cuts, and have you tried repairing/patching them? I took a big cut to the waffle weave-looking black covering on the skate, exposing a chunk of white felt-like material underneath. The flap of black material is still there - was thinking about just super-gluing it back down.

And is it bad to leave the white felt stuff exposed? Pro-tac-toe?

My previous skates were either nylon (doesn't cut easily and just frays) or leather (much thicker to cut through), so I don't have any experience with this.

It happened to me about 7 months ago. I just used gorilla glue and have had no problems since.

the new graf ultra series is realy nice. i was skating on the 703s for a while and just got the g3 ultra's. they are really nice. alot lighter and stiffer. insert is really comfortable. i would definately recomend them to anyone. they feel great. definatelt the best skate thay i have ever bought. if you get the 705 ultra se skate they come with the older supra series leather and felt tongue. se is the same skate with a different tongue and its white and black. best graf line ever put out!

They don't look like mine and I don't think that Graf would use black thread on white leather, looks like maybe an outside vendor might be replacing the black leather with white leather. Both pairs of my 709 GW and my ultra G70 whites have white stitching.

I ordered some GW Ultra G5's through my LHS a little while ago I'll see whether they're the same as the one's that HM has except I asked for a white felt tongue so it might be different colors on the tongue.

Bump: Question:

Has anyone bought a pair of these in the past 3 months to see if the issues with the holder not sitting on the outsole flush has been fixed? There is a pair on ebay that ends tonight in my size and I am thinking...

I think that all depends on that particular pair you're buying. If the holder isn't sitting flush that means that the person who put it on just didn't do it correctly. I'm ordered my skates without holders so I can put tuuks on them, so I won't be able to tell you once I get mine. :(

Does it really matter if I'm putting T blades on them anyways?

To you guys that have these. Why dont one of you leave a review of the skate in the product review area of this site. I think that many would like to hear about your experience and the quality of the skate.

Still a bit too early for me. I've only had them a couple months.

tsanga I understand your situation but please take the time in the near future to leave a review.

However for the rest of you we'd love to hear about what your experience has been in depth about the skates.

I just skated on them for the first time, they feel great but I can't get used to the cobra holders, which is probably why you (ted) have a different stride.

I was told it's not the holder but the boot. . .I got LS2P put on mine and have found them to have their positives, as well as their negatives (namely durability) :( Once I get some more time, I'll try to give a full-length review.

Cobra holders put you on your toes. Graf boots put you on your toes.

Graf boots were originally designed with custom+ holders... Does the boot pitch make sense now?
