What Size Holder To Replace

Recommended Posts

The "insiders" I got the info from do not work for any major manufacturer, instead they are in the hockey plastic and steel industry.  Where they got the info, I don't know,  but I do trust their professional opinion.  The bottom line is, the LS power steel was the result of lack of shrinkage of the clear lexan. That was all I was saying, but more importantly, the LS power steel is still not a proven performance improvement.  If it is, please provide independent lab tests and I'll gladly back off, but if all you have is marketing hype, then let the discussion roll on.

BTW, the topic has nothing to do with whether I have a direct Bauer account and who at Bauer is feeding who info.  If I believed everything sales reps and companies say, I'd be out of business.

The hockey plastic and steel industry? I missed their booth at OneGoal. Who are you talking about? On the one hand you trust their professional opinion, on the other you say you don't believe sales reps and companies. You do need an independent lab test!

Im worried that the skate wont fit me now.

The last 2 pair of easton skates were both size 288 holders!

Mmmmmm

LHS saves you from such problems.

Ivan, I take it you live in America Or Canada, where your 'LHS' are very stocked up.

Here in the UK is a different story.

Plus our prices are far greater than yours!

You's get more products available to you.

I so wish i could of tested a pair before i bought them, but our local hockey shops wont stock the higher end skates unless you place an order.

Im going off a pair of ccm vector 6 (orange style) which ive tried on whch were a size euro 43. I needed them a touch bigger, as my toes were touching the end of the toe cap. So the euro 44 should be ok.

Wrong. I currently live in Ukraine where they have crap for selection (two small stores in the capital of the country. Prices in Ukraine are higher than in the UK (and MUCH lower incomes). Although I did defect (not to be confused with defecate) to the US long time ago and have been living there until recently.

I was ordering my first pair of CCM Vector 10s in Canada from Ukraine and learned my lesson the hard way. Ended up needing to get a pair one full size smaller in spite my thorough research. Even the CCM forum wasn't helpful in spite the fact that CCM employees post there and read other people's posts. Getting rid of the pair that is too long for me seems to be almost impossible - people here make about $180 a month on average. Very few will shell out $500

BTW, you do want your toes feather the toe box when the skates are tied up:

Yes, where is the independent lab test. I notice you glance over this whenever I bring it up. Please show the proof.

Ive got a pair of CCM vector 10's on the way, i seriously dont like the CCM e holder, i prefer the good old tuuk custom plus, but im thinking of going to the lightspeed holder, or even the new lightspeed 2 power holder (blue to match the blue piping on the skate)

The skate size is

US 10.5

EURO 44

UK 9.5

CM 27.7

Any idea of sizes?

BTW, I just played a game (not just skated) in my brand new V10s UNBAKED. Awesome! I would not change the E-Pro holders and steel. VERY nice. VERY responsive. I am impressed. I am switching from Bauer Supreme 7000 pro stock.

Never skated in CCM skates before.

You show me the proof that George Bush had of WMD for entering Iraq and starting another Vietnam and I'll show you the proof of longer steel equals faster skating.

Where is the proof that a OPS is better than a woody? I never saw that independent lab test. Where is the proof that stainless steel is better than carbon steel? Until Tuuk stainless came out in the late 70s, everything was carbon. I never saw that independent lab test. Where is the proof that girdles offer more protection than traditional pants. I never saw that independent lab test. Where is the proof that Jofa style elbow pads were better than traditional donut-style elbow pads? I never saw that independent lab test. Where is the proof that UnderArmour style shirts actually work? I never saw that independent lab test. Since working in the hockey industry since 1978, I have yet to see an independent lab test. Maybe you could start your own laboratory and get all the answers. You keep asking for one. DIY.

Thanks for the links Ivan.

When i meant my toes touch the end of the toe box, i meant that they were pressed against the toe box, and not feathering them, thats why i needed the next size up.

I currently run a small business, sharpening skates, and also doing repairs, riviting changing holders etc etc.

Me and my family have been involved with hockey for over 25 years now, but the way manufactures change their methods, sizes, steel, etc etc, its a bit hard to catch up, so thats why i oftern post questions to other MSH's.
