Virus

Hello,

I have a couple viruses on my PC and I was just wondering is there any software out there that will remove them from my computer?

I have AVG Free Edition and it doesn't work worth crap,

I would want something thats not gonna cost me anything.

I've never had a problem with AVG, do you have all the updates?

Yes,

But it doesn't seem to be doing anything its like it just lets the viruses walk right in.

What additon do you have of AVG?

I've been using the free for a couple years. I have an old corperate version of McAfee on another machine that I use to scan it every couple months and it's still clean.

AVG free is one of, if not the best free one you can get. I use a combination of avg free, spybot search&destroy and ad-ware and am usually not having any trouble at all. There are things it might not detect though but they are usually active-x elemets or other stuff that alters your browser among others. First off switch to Firefox if you donÂ´t have already. You might want to download a tool called smitfraud as well. ItÂ´s a dos-program that is run in windows secure mode and searches for stuff that is deep inside your registry and also destroys bad background tasks. Another very good tool is hijackthis. It is very good for malware that hides in your registry, autostart or browser.
