new sher-wood sticks

Recommended Posts

Last night I had a chance to check them out. Very light well balanced (they even mark the balance point). There were some Coffey patterns there and had it not been for the price ($219.00 US) I probably would have bought one just to try it out. I hope someone here posts a review.

I play DIV III in the ACHA and Sherwood offers team pricing to us. We got a chance to try out their product line and honestly I was impressed. The SWD 19 is easily as good or better than the Easton Synergy SL. However they dont have the pattern I like which is the Lidstom curve so I'm torn.

how are the momentum XD shafts in comparison to other taper shafts?

im debating on getting another warrior dolomite or picken up one of those babies from the monkey

EDIT:doesnt say anywhere so i had to ask, but im pretty sure the XD is tapered? correct?

the XD shaft isn't tapered... neither is the blade, it's just a standard blade, with a short hosel.

I have them both coming in the mail... should be here on Monday

Just got the RM 9's in. Not a bad stick at all. It doesn't seem to have anything inside of it (like a hex core) but only did the scientific method of tapping it. The grip is very light and doesn't seem like it will ladt for long. But that's just my opinion. The stick itself is as light or lighter than a ST. Won't be able to use it until the end of the week but it feels liek a solid stick.

ive been going sherwood for years now; first the sop 5030 sticks, now the 950 sop tapered woodie blades and the momentum shaft

id have to say it is one of the worst performing shafts ive ever used, poor balance, shooting. however the durabitlity is excellent

I've only seen RM9's with grip - but that could just be me.

Anybody notice the RM7 pad in lower-right-hand corner? If it's an elbow pad, it looks like an offensive weapon a WWE wrestler would use.

my lhs of choice just got the RM9 and RM19's in... they're a chain store in New England, so I'm assuming they had some RM19's made up for the chain. They had RM19's that tapered down to neon green, and neon orange... they were just taking them out onto the floor, so I didn't get a peek. The RM9's were already on the floor and on the rack... it's a great feeling stick. Not lightweight enough to make everyone "ooh and aah" but it was balanced well, and had a decent feel to it. They felt a LOT like the neon green RBK 6K's they put out.... the snake grip painted over- that's exactly what the RM9 is like.

anthony whats the name of the store? i live in nh so there may be one around here where i could check out the rm19

Pure Hockey in Braintree... I know they have a store in NH, but I dunno if they have the RM19's in that particular store. I might duck in on Monday or Tuesday to check it out myself... since I only got a glance

There's a couple guys in my league with those sticks. Does anyone else have a problem with ordering SOP's? I was told 6 weeks for them and it's been 13 and I still don't have them. Then yesterday I found out they shipped them but the LHS can't find them. So that was probaly the shippers fault. The guy at the LHS said they put in a special order for them so they will be done by next week and I'll get them for cost to make the stick. Hopefully this is all worth it.

Pure Hockey in Marlboro has had RM19's since August in Orange and Green. They were $219 and were very nice feeling sticks. I would of got one if I had the cash for it.

I've only been to the Marlboro store twice... it is such a big store. they tend to have a lot more in stock than Braintree. Even though Braintree just moved to a bigger location.

yeah that price is the only thing making me hesitant ive never tried a sherwood stick before so im thinking maybe i should go for the rm9 to start with. if im gonna shell out 200+ for a stick id rather get a stealth cnt just because my last 5 sticks have been all eastons except one mac daddy.

Sherwood's got some solid stuff out right now...

Most of the NAHL and EJHL, along with I believe the CHL and UHL are using a lot of Sherwood, along with several OP and college teams.

The RM19 is a great stick, but kind of steep at over $200. Someone had likened it to an Easton SL, and that's a fair comparison. Obviously there are some differences between companies and feel. Very nice in that it's available in SOP for junior and college players.

We got a sample pack of RM9s and RM7s recently to try out. The RM7 is ok, comparable to most of the other $100 pricepoint sticks, but I believe it retails for less, probably around $80. The RM9 is impressive. I wouldn't put it at equal to an Easton ST, but it's a solid stick at a considerably lower retail price (we were told one supplier retailed them at $109.99). It's a little heavier (haven't weighed it, but thinking maybe 470 grams?), and as a devout ST and Vapor XX user, the feel is not nearly as good on the RM9. The one I've been putting through the courses does seem to have noticable bit of "pop" on shots over the STs and XXs I've been using. The stock shaft shape is slightly rounded and thinner profile than ST, and the walls almost feel convex. Right now they're only available in grip, the grip feel is kind of soft feeling, not as tacky as Bauer or Easton.

It's not an equal to Easton ST or Vapor XX, but we're getting them at just about half of what XXs cost. At 2 SWDs per the cost of an Easton, the slight weight increase and different feel are definitely worth the cost-benefit.

Note: Sherwood offers pretty much an equivalent to every Easton curve out. Sakic, Drury, Lidstrom, Modano/Forsberg and Iginla, in addition to their own Spezza.

my brother got last years RM7 from a teammate- the guy didn't like it much and watned to go back to a 2 piece... My brother is a heavy shooter, skating about 16 years and he's about 6 feet, 210lbs and was a strictly Easton (he has gone through 3 SL's, 2 Stealths, a Si-Core, and an original silver/grey Synergy), and he loves the RM7. He was with me when I checked out the RM9, and he plans on picking up 2 after the holidays. I'm sure if he actually gets to look at the RM19, he might even throw 2 of those on his credit card.. haha.

He plays in an adult no-contact league, and his sticks take a lot of abuse... he said some of the chops his RM7 took, his Eastons would have busted easily. Again, I haven't used one, but for the price, and performance, my brother seems to be pretty sold.

Anyone use the Rm9 or the rm19? Hows the puckfeel?

my brother and I are both currently using RM9's.. I like the feel a lot. I've sold both of my Vapor XXX's, and shelved my Dolomite, and CNT Stealth if that attests to the RM9 at all.
