Jack Johnson Might be moved

Not to mention the NTDP that he went through right there in Ann Arbor. It's possible he's been playing with/against current U0fM players for the past couple years already.

A college championship is something you can never go back and do later.

True, but he would have hoisted the Stanley Cup if he had played last year. He might never get close again. I wonder if he dreamed about skating around with the Cup when he was a kid in Indiana, or if he dreamed about being a big man on campus at a school that worships its athletes.

holy crap, let the kid make his own decisions. Maybe he likes being a star at UM! Maybe he feels it gives him a better oportunity to improve and get media attention before making the jump.

Maybe he feels that college is an experience him and all his friends are going through, so he wants to finish it.

The bottom line is he wants to stay in michigan in school playing for the UM. It isn't the wrong decision if it is what he wants.

Maybe they wouldn't have won if he had played.

Yeah, maybe not. It boils down to his choosing between the chance to play at hockey's highest level fior what is arguably hockey's ultimate prize , and the chance to play for a college championship.

Not really; it isn't like the NHL is going anywhere.

No, but that just might have been his best chance to get his name on the Cup. You can't get much closer than being begged to play for a team that ended up winning it all. But who knows, maybe he'll end up winning as many Cups as Henri Richard and this will be moot. Or maybe he'll get injured and never play hockey. Or perhaps worse, maybe he'll get traded to the Islanders or Chicago.
