Stick help

Hey i'm in need of stick with a strong heel because i have been using an sl grip for about a year and they all break at the heel. I use a drury cruve.

Switch to a tapered shaft so you can just fire the blades out after they are destroyed.

i used to use those and then i moved to one peices and i liked the one peice a lot more.

What tapered shaft were you using before? I'd think an R2 Xn10 would be close in weight and then you could have your pick of blades as well. If that's not up your alley try some CCM sticks, they seem to be relatively tough there. It may be the lie on your sticks as well if it is just the heel breaking.

I was thinking lie and form more than anything else. Then again my luck was not good with SLs either.

I agree with the call on CCM. I have had a 120 in a Lecavalier fo 3 years and that thing has been through the ringer and the blade is still stiff.

I had the exact same thought. Try a lower lie or stop pounding the blade into the ice on slappers.

Synergy II is advertised as being "synergy SL technology in 2 piece form" I don't know how close it actually is in weight and construction to the SL, but that could be an option. you shouldn't be able to tell the difference between a tapered combo and a OPS of the same type (i.e. SL vs Synergy II, Dolomite vs. dolo 2)

Use any shaft with an Ultralite Blade.. those things are crazy fat.

i never break them on shots, they always break on getting the puck out of a scramble or digging it out of the corner

i was thinking about switching to the vapor xxx stick or a warrior stick, would that do the trick

It's almost impossible to tell without seeing you play and knowing what actually causes it. Trial and error, try out something new and hope for the best. I've never tried the XXX's but I like the Warrior sticks and have found them reasonably durable.

Warriors havent been that durable around here.Ive seen a couple break in the heel and the middle of the shaft. There were tons of broken ones in the LHS last time I was in there also.

If you can still find some the original Vapor XXX is pretty durable, a couple of my friends have had them since the beginning of HS Season last year and they all just broke in the last 2 weeks.

well my brother had an extra old one and i used it for about two weeks and i broke it at the shaft lifting a kids stick

Sounds like your just really hard on sticks, maybe you could try a Synergy ST or a Bauer Endure, something a little heavier?

lol my coach tought me to be rough and get my stick in the corner and really lift a kids stick when you see him getting the puck, i need a good durable stick cuz my dad is gettin pissed that im break SLs left and right

wow, thats alot. My friends who had them used to break synergys/stealths all the time and these lasted them alot longer and they are all going to get XXXs again and 2 other kids want to get them also, my LHS has a good amount of them still.
