Concerts

Recommended Posts

I just bought tickets to see Brand New (my favorite band - can't wait for their new album to come out in November) and Dashboard Confessional (my girlfriend's favorite band) in Mississauga on December 6th. I'm excited, but I'm also kinda nervous, as I have never seen Brand New live before, and am just really hoping that my favorite band doesn't suck in concert. I've been slightly relieved after reading that they're supposed to be at least semi-decent.

I've been to enough concerts (I worked the shows at Six Flags Darien Lake for a summer) to know that there are some bands that sound decent on their albums, but suck when they get on stage. Just wondering how many of you boys went to see your favorite bands in concert and left in utter disappointment...

I left dissapointed from trivium. All the music was super dirty/staticy, and hes vocals were dissapointing. All the spots he was suppose to yell in, he ended up just singing them. there was no screaming or anything. Nothing like the cd.

I've seen a ton of great bands live, mostly at once at Woodstock 99

As someone on here said, Chili Peppers are really good live. I saw them 4 years ago, but they played after Stone Temple Pilots and STP was unreal so it made RHCP seem not as good.

I've heard Coldplay is simply fantastic live, and I've always wanted to see U2 live.

Coldplay's great if you can get them in the right venue. I've seen them about 5 times and their best sets were indoors with the best I've seen at the Ryman Auditorium which is a closet compared to any major venue.

Because the Ryman was built for music, not a big metal sports box that you just throw a stage into and challenge a soundguy to make it sound good.

Really, RHCP blew away STP as far as I was concerned. As for audioslave, I refuse to buy another piece of his music again. Besides, there are a lot of other great artists out there.

That's the thing though, they'll never play anything that size again unless it was some spur of the moment decision. Seeing them in an amphitheatre is bittersweet.

On Saturday Night i went to a Dave Matthews Band concert, in my hometown(where the band was created and Dave grew up). it was an awesome show, around 5 hours including the opening act. they are great in concert. the only thing i wouldhave changed is for DMB to play American Baby.

I'm going to columbus in like a month to go see From First To Last, Atreyu, Chiodos and, Every Time I Die. I honestly dont have a clue who those last three bands are but my four good friends have this band and they all asked me to go with them so I said I would. I already kinda like FFTL but I wanted to know if any of these other bands are any good and if anyone knows how they sound live.

The Mars Volta. Once you have seen them live all other bands look like tourists.

I'm sorry, but I can't agree to that. I saw them open up for RHCP back in August (which by the way was the single most amazing show I've ever seen in my entire life), and they were god awful. People were leaving their seats just to try to escape the noise. Honestly, it didn't sound like music. Horrible opening act.

He was good once, but that's all you'll ever have to see him as nothing else changed.

You think so? Unlike most artist DMB plays a differant set every night so their live show is always differant, this is why the tour every year unlike most bands. Bands that play the same set every night are the ones who have nothing change

Yup, I saw him three times in three years. I liked his stuff enough, thought I'd catch his show. It was very good, even in a crappy rainstorm. Next year he cames back and it was almost the same set down to the most minute detail. Then I saw him at Bonnaroo and it was a little different, but nothing like I thought it'd be. I thought he'd change it up because he seemed innovative enough but what I'd seen was just re-hashed stuff and nothing new. Maybe an odd cover here or there but nothing like I thought he'd be capable of.
