Aaron Downey taken to hospital

I can't see how any Montreal fan wouldn't want Tucker back on their team. Sure he's a prick, but he's fire-y and I haven't seen a player like that on the Habs in years. Definitely not one of the most talented guys around, but hustling and effort will get you farther than bi-polar talent.

He may have the same amount of goal(I don't know about that)that kovy has but it's not clutch goal like Kovy would do.

Heres two examples of Kovys clutch play in the playoffs.

It seems every time i read a thread about the habs, there's Mack right out there trying to ruin our optimism towards them. I'm ok with that...

But I like what i see so far... Have you seen that young guy called Chris Higgins? Wow, this is really someone we'll have to watch this year IMO. Everyone knows Michael Ryder has a crazy shot but he lost 15lbs this summer and he skates like a damn rocket! With Koivu Between them, the first line looks good.

Kovalev? Exciting, dominant, but it just seems to me like he'd want to be somewhere else everygame. Just don't rely on him or samsonov.

Radek Bonk plays well, Mike Jonhson is 20 times better than Zednik and Prezhogin does the job. Don't forget Begin, this guy is a warrior and an awesome defensive player.

Here was my analysm of the team and it looks good! I don't know who you cheer for Mack but whoever they are, i'd like to bitch them in some thread :P

BTW, my post is friendly, i'm not trying to start war in here :D

Kovalev is the guy who will bring Montreal further. His 2 goals this year are game winning goal, Kovy is our clutch player.

I lost any respect I had for Kovalev after he cost Montreal that game in the Playoffs a couple years ago. A little tap on the gloves in OT, no ref would ever make a call on that at the time.

You lost respect to him because of this play but he won the series almost all by himself after this incident.

Ya so the reason i lost respect for him wasnt because of his skill. I know Kovalev can put the puck in the net. The reason i lost all respect for him is cause how he gets a little tap on the gloves, and gives up on the play acting like hes hurt when the puck is two feet from him, and runs into his own guy leading to the boston game winning goal in ot. And this is in the Stanley Cup playoffs, sure he played well the games after but id hope so after what he pulled in that game. I dislike him even more after i saw that other video from when he was with New York, and seen hes done the same thing before. He gets a little tap and looks like hes been shot. Its the Stanley Cup Playoffs man up.

I think he man up after that. Everyone will make mistakes, we see a winner from how he rebounds from them.

This is just like every other Kovalev/Tucker argument, except I'll chime in with Tucker has 5 goals this year, Kovy has 2. I know its not the greatest sample size, but still. I've watched the Habs play a few games and not surprisingly, haven't been impressed by Kovy at all. And lets even throw away their offensive production. Who would you rather have on your team?

...the guy who also can't score at even-strength.

Neither can Darcy Tucker...but everyone loves him in To.

I've heard (but nor had sonfimred) that Downey suffered what they are calling..."they" being one of the other Hab fans I work with...a serious concussion.

I don't know his concussion history...I don't think he's had many (if any) in his career...at least not documented ones.

I guess Garth Murray gets his spot on the roster back...

Tucker is making under 2 mill a year and isn't really looked upon as a "sniper."

Yeah, yer probably right...It kills me that he was such a bum after Montreal drafted him...the Tucker of TODAY, I'd have in a minute in Montreal....at 1.6 Mil, he is a bargain for what he brings...

hockey3: the funny thing looking back at the tap on the wrist in Boston....NOW that gets called EVERYTIME. But, yeah...that was a bad attempt at a sell job. At least he redeemed himself with his play afterward...Ribs never rebounded after his Flop incident in the same series.

Btw, this thread has gotten WAAAY off track....has anyone heard news on Downey that is newer than this...

Kosy, I agree with you. Kovy was bad in the first 4 games. He was non-existent on the ice. But yesterday though, Kovalev played like one of the best player in the game. Kovalev at 50% is better than many players but he needs to show up every game.

Any time any combination of Montreal, Toronto, Kovalev, and Tucker are mentioned, expect for a detour.

Like them or hate them but those 2 players let nobody indifferent.

What?

It's something I've never seen, but I figured it was a language barrier thing.

Radio - I haven't seen an updated, but the more I watch the hit the more Phaneuf like it looks. He brings his elbow up, which brings his shoulder to face-height. He connects with the shoulder, but his elbow is up in the air. Very Stevens-eque.

Regher hammered Downey....Phaneuf nailed the Ottawa player last week.

How about that: (I'm trying learn :P) Like them or hate them but nobody remains indifferent to those 2 players.

And Downey's a big guy, just imagine the consequences of that hit on Koivu!

Oui monsieur qui est correct...

And, a guy Koivu's size...I don't even want to think about him taking that hit.

ya Downey has no brain, that's why he got hit like that.

That's really mature.

The guy's in a hospital suffering from a severe concussion and you have the balls to say that?

This hit would never happen on a guy like Koivu.

The hit could have happened to anyone. Koivu, Forsberg, any of the greats. Put your head down for .5 seconds and bam, you're done. Look at Lindros. He was a fantastic player, but when he got caught with his head down, he paid the price for it. I agree with anything Don Cherry said in the Letowski hit video. Keep your head up at all times, or you're going to get plastered.
