well considering the flyers are gonna be without carter for 6 weeks since he just busted his ankle, something is going to have to be done. and honestly, as a flyer fan, i think gagne is highly overrated. dont get me wrong, he can put the puck in the net, but he can't create a play for anyone else. as soon as the puck touches his stick within the tops of the circles its on net. hes great with forseberg but put him with matthew lombardi or lankgow up in calgary his numbers will drop heavily.

He's a shooter. You pair up a shooter with a playmaker and Forsberg is the first playmaker they have had in a long time. A couple years ago Gagne was playing with Recchi and Roenick and they were putting up points until Hitchcock decided they weren't playing good enough defense and split them up.
