Vapor XXX Skates From LHS and Big Box Stores?

Hey does any one know of difference between Vapor XXX 's skates sold by LHS and the "Big" box store like National Sports in Ontario?? One of the guys who work at National said that he could tell where the skates came from... ie. if they were purchased from a LHS and National.. He said he could tell by looking at the heel of the skate... Should I just buy the swamp land now??? <_<

i believe it is all cosmetic. I got a pair of xxx's and the guy where i get my skates done said mine were made in taiwan. My skates were a different color black (kind of purpleish) and they weren't ribbed like the other pairs in the stores. I thought mine were a knock off but he said that it just depends on where they are made (the better ones are made in canada). Thats just my take on it.

Ok well this was probably in response to some stores in the GTA selling seconds at a discount and people trying to return them to National as a "Gift" and wanting a totally diffrent skate. Hence they were paying 300 for XXX and wanting to get a 9K in exchange. There is a cosmetic diffrence in the 2 skates. I personally havent seen it but it has happend twice at the same store that someone has done this. PM me what store and if its the same one that would be why they were a little weary on anything going on with questions about XXX and color.

Since this post is related to my old post I was wondering if anyone knows if the standard foot design (last?) of the Vapor XXX that was initially made in Canada is still the same as the one they use for the newer XXX's now being made in Taiwan?

For that matter would I be gettting the same pattern XXX if I ordered custom (prostock) XXX's from Bauer ( Made in Canada I hope) as the retail XXX that I got almost two years ago; which were made in Canada?

I keep hearing both. Some people are sure that Custom XXX's are made in Bauer's factory in St Jerome and retail has been moved to Taiwan.

Ironically, I ordered a pair of customs today from EWH. Jason was telling me that the customs are made overseas.

Being made overseas does necessarily make any product inferior. Yea, I know, we don't like loosing manufacturing jobs to the orient, but hey, we brought it upon ourselves, .. we want inexpensive products but we just can't have that with the high wages, benefits, health care, etc that north american workers demand.

Quality control is the important thing and that can be good or bad anywhere.

yes custom skates are still made in st. jerome where retail skates are made in taiwan for the vapor line

My xxx's right now are really black at the heel and most of the guys I play with are more of a purple then a black. I was wondering what the difference was to. Now I know.
