Vector 10 vs. 9k's

Recommended Posts

So I'm skating in Kor's right now and its about time for a new pair. I've narrowed it down to 2 chocies. Vector 10's and 9k's. I'm just wondering what the performance is like on these skates and if either of them fit like the Kors. What are your opinions on the performance? Any input would help. Do either skate have a forward lean like Graf or Kor's with the +1 Pitch?

Also I have a pair of Graf Ultra G5's that will be going up on eBay soon.

Thanks

I skated in Kor's before getting my 9K's and the transition was smooth. I would say the Kor's were a bit wider.

You've worn out your KORs? How long have you had them and how often do you skate? Are the completely soft now? If you liked them, then why not just pick up another pair in the same size? If you didn't, what don't you like about them? I'm just curious as I have KORs myself and liked them so much I picked up a second pair as a backup pair for when the first pair do break down, but my first pair is still going strong.

I don't think any skate other than the 0ne90 would mold around your foot as well to get rid of the negative space. I skated in Vector Pros before the KORs and while they were a good skate I think the KORs are much better...at least for me, but of course everyone has different feet and tastes.

Why did you decide to switch and how would you say the 9Ks perform in comparison?

I don't think his bosses would like it if he was still skating in Kors.

I've had my KOR's for about a year now and they a completly soft now. I skate 7 days a week, sometimes more so I usually get a new pair every year. I liked my KOR's just not enough to buy them again. There a little to low cut for me. I skated in CCM for a long time before that so I wanna go back to those, and I can get a really good deal on RBK and CCM from my team. Im leaning towards the 9k's.

Yes, that does make sense...now I remember it's been mentioned in other threads that he works for CCM/RBK.

IIRC the KOR shift 2 skate will be a higher cut, more traditional boot. I'm not sure if there's a definitive release date on them though.

Both the 10.0/9k skates will give you top performance so either would be a good choice it fit is right. Neither though will fit like the Kors, because the KOR is based off a foot mold and the carbon shell is moldable reducing slop inside the skate. Less slop equals quicker response and no loss of power transfer. Having said that, a proper fitting "normal" skate would provide pretty much similar performance. As for boot breaking down, tha't odd. The carbon shell is one piece, no sole plate to seperate or flex. Perhaps it's the uppers you are talking about. I can't see the boot/shell loosing it's stiffness. Of the 2 dozen or so of my customers who have had their Kors for a year, the condition of their skates is remarkably good, compared to other skates of that level.

Whatever skate you do buy, you can have them profiled to match the Kor's +1 lean.
