Vapor xxx >>>>> One90

Recommended Posts

I wore my xxx's last night for the first time since purchasing my one90's, and felt a lot different in how i was balanced on the ice. Clearly they are two totally differenty boots, but i was wondering if the pitch (not sure if thats even the right term) can be replicated on the one90?

i'm probably getting one90's but that's the thing i'm worried about. i know alot of players switch to LS2s but i don't know i think you might be able to fix it by fixing the radius but i'm not really sure what that means.

I have both skates and I think it isn't so much the pitch of the boot, but the added length of the LS2 power holder. I quite liked the feel of the One90's out of the box. I have both skates profiled with a +1 pitch (which I think all tuuk's require) and both feel really nice, but I find it hard to go from the One90's straight to the XXX's. The shorter blade makes it feel like there is no toe to push off of. I've put the One90's in my closet and I'm not gonna play with them until the XXX's are worn out. I really like them, but I can't use both pairs at the same time. I really do like the LS2 power holder. I'll probably end up selling the XXX's and using the One90's. I really like the fit and responsiveness of the boots along with the slightly longer blade. It's only a few millimeters longer, but you definitely notice it.

what about like transitioning and turning and stuff? is that harder with the power or is it fine once you get used to it?

No, i find skating on the power really nice, but your balance is thrown for the first five minutes while you adjust.

do you feel more forward in your One90's? or more backward?

My One90's are on the way... I've been so accustomed to RBK skates, with a forward pitch, then I added a neutral radius -that I'm thinking the One90's will put me more on my heels...

I haven't skated in Bauers since my first attempt to learn...... 15 years ago

Hmm, if i remember correctly i think i was more on my heels when i stepped on my one90's. does this mean i just need to get them profiled with a forward pitch?

or as JR suggest to me, have a heel lift installed

I might give them a whirl without at first, see how it is... then if need be, I'll put the heel lift in like he suggested

I would use a forward pitched profile before a heel lift. I think it is the best way to alleviate the problem of feeling back on your heels. I had that issue when I switched back to Bauers from Eastons. Give the skates a few icetimes before you start making changes. Let them break in a little and get used to them in order to see for sure whether or not you really do want to change them. Good luck with the One90's. They are a great skate.

I've had my one90's for over a month now and have no problems with them, just would prefer to be more on my toes like i am in my xxx's. it feels more explosive. In a perfect world i'd have the one90 boot with the xxx feel. Would switching the holders help at all? (from the ls2p to an ls2)

There isnt enough blade to take it off the front. A heel lift is the only way to go.

i think im having a pitch problem as well

I got an 11' radius and I guess I was so used to the heel lifts I had on my 8000s so the one90s feel like I'm too much on my heels and it causes me to screw up a stride or two which really kills my speed.. I've skated on them 4 times and still haven't been able to get useed to them, would heel lifts fix this problem?

a heel lift would put you more on your toes.

not if it is a Bauer skate.. a Bauer skate is generally pitched to have you on your heels... a lift in a Bauer skate would make it neutral

NBH has a heel lift kit but it is pretty costly.

my lhs said that they cut a sheet of 'polymer plastiic' for the lift... they said it would cost less than $8 or so. Does that sound legit?

No, this can be done in ANY skate. Would depend on the size of the lift.
