Quick 9k question

Recommended Posts

Yes they can be baked, but as mentioned, make sure the pumps are deflated at the time of heating. When they came out of the oven, I put mine one and pumped until I could barely feel the air bladders fill up (about three pumps), then just sat there as instructed. It worked well for me.

Good luck.

Yes, that's what I did. I was very cautious not to over pump. Before they went in the over I got a sense of how many pumps I'd normally give. Then I made sure the air bladders were empty before baking. After the oven the went on my feet, I pumped until I could feel them, then stopped. And yes, that was about three pumps, when normally I pump the 5-6 times.

You made the wrong decision. 9k's are NOT to be pumped up during the heat fitting process. So, when the bladeer fails, please do not post on this BB how mad you are that your 9ks are a piece of junk. 3 minutes in the oven, no pumping. Your dealer did tell you that correct? Curious, who was your dealer and why didn't you get them properly molded there?

My junior team has a deal with the winterhawks in the WHL so we can get skates for cheap, so I went to no dealer for them. and we have a oven in our locker room.

Dealer didn't know, so I thought I'd play it safe and hardly do anything at all. Heat makes things expand, and softens glue. As long as there wasn't too much pressure on the bladder I'm hoping it's okay. Been using the skates three times a week since I bought them in the summer and no problems. Count my lucky stars I guess.

Yup, you're lucky. I will say the bladders are well designed and even with abuse will stand up. I have a bladder in my goal mask and even though it's exposed and only has a little slip on cap to hold the air, it hasn't even lost a drop of air in the past 6 yrs. I'm assuming the RBK bladders are equally as durable.

If you don't have the manual dexterity required to type full words you probably wouldn't be able to pump them. I'd recommend against buying them.
