Habs Coach "making fun" of Kovalev.

Recommended Posts

Guy Carbonneau, Montreal Canadiens head coach has always been known for saying what he really thinks. Well after announcing Kovalev would now play center, he said: "Alex likes to work under pressure. He likes to have new responsabilities. He now can't say it's the center's fault. He's gonna have to blame himself!" and then started laughing out loud.

I'm not sure Kovalev will laugh about this one. Not a very good thing for coach/player relationships if you ask me!

Robert Lang should have been moved to the HABs during the off season. Im still hoping that it will.

I loved watching lang with the caps. He always looked like he loved playing the game, always smiling, but still playing hard.

Pity he was only here for such a short time

I hate him on the Wings. Hes basically a first line center playing on the third line. Its a waste of his time and the Wings. Why not atleast get a decent prospect in return for the guy? It would be amazing to get one of the Kostsitsyn brothers in return or even Perezhogin.

Kovalev has a pretty wry sence of humour himself...and, he tends to play better when the fans are on him, or the coach is challenging him.

I wouldn't call this Carbo v. Kovy just yet...I wanna see how it plays out.

I think he was just stating facts. I'm sure Kovalev interpreted the statement correctly.

I don't know if there were others from MSH at the game last night and if they noticed the little ritual he ( Kovalev) did behind the net right at the end of the warm up.

The warm up was nearing to an end. Most of the players were getting off the ice.

He skated towards the back of the net with a certain determination, I thought, so I watched his every move. He did not have a puck which I thought was odd, cause this guy is always stickhandling.

He stops right in the center of the back of the net, does nothing for a few seconds then kicks it ( lower bar ) once with each skate, looks straight at the center ice, almost looked like he said something, moved his arms like to pump himself up and skated vigorously off.

As a Ranger fan, and somebody who's seen him play for a team 2 times now...I don't know I'd agree with that statement wholeheartedly.

Sounds like he was having a little joke anybody remember 'how' he said it?

EDIT: I mean there might have been nothing to support it just a little joke.

Nothing bothers Kovalev, not even his coach. In his rookie year with the Rangers, Keenan was pissed at him for taking long shifts and not coming off the ice. So on a five minute major power play, Keenan left Kovalev on the ice the entire five minutes. Kovalev thought he was being rewarded, not punished!
