Question about Bauer Stick Tapers?

Recommended Posts

On the Nike Bauer website the specs for the One90 stick say that it has a .520 taper and the Vapor XXX Lite has a .470 taper. My question is which stick has the longer taper? I'm guesing the One90 but could be wrong I might have it backwards. And I have one other question, which stick is a better shooting stick the One90 or the Stealth CNT?

Thanks for your responses in advance.

I know nothing of what exactly those numbers mean, but one of the first things I noticed when I grabbed the one90 stick was how long the taper was. I swear that thing goes up 1/3 of the shaft.

It could be the blue color and the bubble grip that makes the taper seem sooo long but just calling them like I see them.

I was lead to beleive that the One90 had a longer taper, but the shaft walls were not as thin as the XXX Lite. This would provide a harder shot, possibly more snappy, with a little more durability for power in the shots.

What I'm interested in, is where in the shaft those numbers are taken from. I'm assuming they are taken from the thinnest point in the shaft, which I guess would be just about the bottom of the shaft.

I've always wondered about the .470, .520 and .620 composite systems. I figured it had something to do with the dimensions of the tenon or in the case of the XXX and XXX lite the area where the tenon would be. If so, it makes sense that the XXX Lite should actually have a lower number than the Vapor XX, Endure, Vapor VIII, etc. instead of the .470 that it does. The XXX Lite has very small shaft dimensions near the bottom of the taper. I would guess that it's taper is longer than that of the One90 and possibly the longest in the industry. Is the One90 at true one piece or is it fused?

Does anyone know what the Easton or other brands equivalent is for these NBH systems?

Is it: standard = 0.620

tapered = 0.520

fused one pieces = 0.470

true one pieces (& Stealth) < 0.470 ???

Also, do Bauer blades (tapered and standard) fit perfectly into Easton and Mission & CCM shafts? I know Inno/Warrior march to a different drum. I hate that.

Any info is appreciated.

i'm not 100% sure but i think it looks like there's a taper higher up but if you look closely its really lower.

NBH site says one90 is a true one piece.

bauer standard blades (wood) fit into easton standard shafts, and vice versa.

Depends on what you consider a "true" one piece stick. I still say Busch is the only one.

Im lazy and havent searched yet, but could you elaborate on the differences in the construction of a busch stick vs. a nbh "monocomp" stick?

NBH, Warrior, Easton = one piece shaft + blade

Busch = one piece mold

sounds simple enough, so monocomp isn't really monocomp then? It's still molded as 2 separate items and then fused? same goes for stealth and macdaddy?

(not that it really matters- if the damn thing works I don't care if it's made of popsicle sticks and pine tar and put together by monkeys in outer space.)

Monocomp is whatever they decide it means, they made up the word. It just doesn't mean what everyone thinks it means.

Cool. Thanks guys.

So how are the Vapor XXX lite and Mac Daddy not True one pieces? I know that the Stealth isn't because I've seen the cross section of the stick, but looking at a cross section of the XXX lite sure makes it seem like it is a true one piece. I've never seen a cross section of the Inno True-1/Warrior Mac Daddy.

Both the XXX lite and the one90 sticks are made from one mold, and are true one piece sticks. the Monocomp tech means it is a one piece stick, not two pieces that are fused together,That is the reason you have problems cutting the stick to put a blade in it once it breaks.

got pictures to prove it? maybe blueprints of the machine?

Or just any source other than "NBH says so"?

I thought that people would know the difference between fused and molded. There is a difference.

We might as well just shut down the site now JR, we don't know shit. :rolleyes:
