I have a couple of Andres Segovia CDs, classical acoustic guitar. On a goofy note Scatterbrain did a couple of Sonatas on their CDs.

"Flight of the Valkeries" (sp?) Wagner I think...."Pachelbel's Canon" is another good one and there is a piece of music that I heard first in "Bram Stokers Dracula" that pops up in a movie every few years, but I don't know the name of it...

Incidently if you play "Hook" by Blues Traveller...I'm told that the musical progression is the same as Pachelbel's Canon...

Cheers.

You would be surprised to find out how many pieces of music either use a I-IV-V progression or a derivation of the circle of fifths.

Classical music is hardcore?

Anyway here's a list of composers that I listen to...

Vivaldi (four seasons)

Strauss (Blue Danuabe)

Aaron Copland (Rodeo IV)

Bizet (Carmen Suite)

Bach (too much to name)

Brahms (Hungarian Dance #5)

Chopin(too much to name)

Debussy (Claire de lune from Oceans Eleven)

Gershwin(Rhapsody in Blue from the United Commericals)

Handel (water music)

Mahler (too much to name)

Mozart (too much to name)

Beethoven (too much to name)

Mussorgsky(Night on Bald mountain)

Pavarotti (has some good songs that are classical per se like La Donna e Mobile from GTA3)

Same goes for Charlotte Church,Carl Orff(Oh Fortuna) ,and Cecila Bartoli (also from GTA)

Schubert(Trout Quintet)

That's a decent list to get you started, also can try searching on the web for popular pieces by Classical composers.

What is the classical music song they usually use for war? I know some NHL arenas play it before the game. Actualy it's more of an opera song, and I know it's a shot in the dark with the description I gave, but any suggestions would be great thanks.

Yea, I know what your talking about when you say the music they use for war and battles and stuff. I think thats what they had for the counter strike comemrcail. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack when you try to search for it though, seeing as how I dont know the name of it!

Just two quick suggestions. I play double-bass in my schools orchestra and I listen to alot of classical. First I can't beleive no one has mentioned Tchaikovsky. He is probably my favorite composer. His most well known composition and for very good reason is the 1812 Overture. Also a popular song is Orff Carmina Burana. I can't remember off hand the specific movement but as soon as you hear it you will know what it is.

Edit: just realized that the name of the Orff Carmina Burana song is "O Fortuna". My bad.

Actually, I love Tchaikovsky's works. Many of the Russian composers were more violent or busy in their compositions, things that I tend to like.

Seriously, Can anyone reccomend any others like this? lol, this music actually pumps me up for games, sad to say.

There really isn't alot of Opera music that is really 'hardcore' most of it is fat chicks screaming to their top of their lungs in Latin.
