Bauer Shafts

Recommended Posts

Is it me or has Bauer been incredibly slow on making another tapered shaft? The Vapor XV has been out for about 2 1/2 years and with all the new additions to Bauer's Stick Market since then (XX, XXX, XXX Lite, One90, etc.) how have they not come out with anything new in tapered shafts?

Hard to make a real shaft version of the XXX or XXX lite when you promote them as true OPS. With other OPS you can just sell the same shaft you use in the OPS.

Tapered combos seem to be almost an afterthought for a lot of companies. The synergy II, dolomite, and R2 are all basically a deconstructed OPS, as most others are as well. There also aren't many price point tapered combos (only one I know of is the Mission Z-2) Since NBH is going heavily with monocomp sticks (XXXLite/ONE90), there's no real top end OPS to sell as a shaft/blade combo.

I find it more intriguing that they don't offer any new standard shafts either, especially when they still make standard blades.

edit: chadd's a lot less wordy than me.

Yeah i know what you mean...but RBK and Easton make a killing on the Synthesis, 7k and 6k so I just never really understood it. I'm just a big bauer fan and was hoping there was something new coming out for a tapered shaft...i'm getting sick of my XN10 shafts and am trying to find a twig.

I'm actually disappointed that TPS isn't still making the R2 XN10s. Mine are starting to get worn out and they are the best shafts I've ever used.

Yeah I have been using them for 2 years now and am looking online for some new stuff...I wanna try the Mission Pro Stocks but I really haven't found anything too positive on them

I haven't used any Mission sticks that had better than average performance.

I've never really trusted mission too much honestly, the M-1 was garbage and after that I ditched them. its going to have be either the synergy or 7k next i guess.

L2 was solid, but average. I never used the blades though because they flexed too much. I don't like it when I can bend a composite blade in my bare hands.

thats generally a problem. the 6k blade is like that too, thats why im doubting the RBK shaft. I ordered 2 Mission Pro Stock blades off Hockey Monkey and was real happy with them. while they are definitely ugly looking, the 2 I used are definately stiff and have some good pop. its only been 2 practices though so well see how the hold up

If they don't hold up, let me know. I wouldn't mind dumping a couple of my new blades when they come in.

The XV shaft is the equivilent of the XX, isn't it? And if I have truly absorbed what I have read on MSH, there really hasn't been a technological breakthrough with shafts in the last 2-3 years. Every manufacturer's shafts are considered "old technology". With the possible exception of Mission.

Still, the Bauer XV shaft has been well reviewed and highly regarded and as it is comparable technology with competitive shafts, what does it really matter that it is 2 1/2 years old?

Of course, it is very hard to find them now. Maybe it is time for the next leap forward.

The XXXlite shafts are standard too, and can be found at various german online stores.

Was discussed in an old topic.

Found that topic, went on the site but it wasnt on it, you know any other sites it would be on?

They could have been designed for the european market as well, and he somehow got his hands on 'em.
