Rangers Game Used Sticks

Recommended Posts

I was at the Ranger game tonight and stopped in the team store, interestingly called "Double Teamed". Hmm. Anyway, they had some game used sticks and I thought I'd share some of the info with fellow MSHers/Ranger fans. I didn't really look at curves too much (I was running late to my seats and getting some Guinness was more important at the time). I'm just gonna detail the good ones...

Shanny-several Warrior Dolomite OPS. The fuse point between blade and shaft was very noticeable. Not sure if that's normal or not. It looked like the fuse was just spray painted in black. Definitely graphite blades, checkerboard kind. Flex was 215, very light grip if any. Shaft shape was extremely boxy. Not like the retail Warriors at all. Blade was kinda like a Lidstrom retail, or I guess old Shanny from Easton. Didn't really inspect it too much. One of the sticks was cut much shorter than the others, I assume this was PP stick maybe like some Pros do. Price was $350!

Straka-Broken RBK SickKick. No blade. Shaftshape was marked "T". Stiff flex. I was actually gonna buy this but 100 flex is a little too much. No price listed.

Kasparaitis-One90, light grip, blade was like a Modo toe, profile, with a Druryish curve. Flex was 102. Nothing really else. Price was $200.

Ozolinsh-smelled of old Vodka and cheap cigarettes. Several Warrior Dolomites, but with the old polarfiber grip, which I actually liked. The color of the sticks were greyish as opposed to black like the rest. Shaft shape was like my Innovative "5". Very square, but not as big and boxy as Shanny's. Flex was 235. Curve was mid-toe, fairly open, with a heavily rockered blade on the bottom part of the toe. $200.

Roszival-Warrior Dolomite, sort of retail Sakicish blade, not as open at toe. Flex was 230. Interesting was that he seems to cut the underside of his tape. You can see where he made the slice in the tape because it had created an etched line in the blade. Not sure what this was about, maybe to help slide better on ice? I think Nedved does this too. Shaft shape was like Shanny's. Price was $200.

Rucinsky-Nasty ass toe curve, short blade. It was a Sher-Wood SOP. No price.

Hall-Only thing interesting about this was the grip on his XXXLite. It was kinda like TPS new grip, like the bubble wrap feel. Little bumps, instead of the grip coating. Never heard of that on Bauer sticks. No price.

Nylander-Old Tac wood stick. Very plain looking, almost no graphics. I liked his curve though. Fairly straight with a little mid-toe curve to it, if any. Heavily rockered toe on the bottom portion of the toe. No price.

I also saw a Betts Synergy ST, Niemennen wood Sher-Wood, Dawes broken Synergy Stealth Grip (not the new red CNT).

That's about it. I noticed a lot of the flexes weren't listed. Just in quickly flexing, they all felt to be 100+. Aside from Kaspar's, almost all of the sticks were boxy, square shapes. No rounded shapes.

what else did they have there game used stuff besides sticks

They didn't have anything else from what I could see. They made an announcement at the end of the 2nd that you could go to the Team Store to get "Game used sticks and pucks" so I'm guessing the sticks were it. Pretty chincy considering some other teams have lots of stuff you can buy.

Somebody also mentioned Cosby's which is an athletic store located at the entrance to MSG, not quite inside it. They have very few game-used items. I've been in there several times, and only seen a couple of sticks here or there. Maybe they have jerseys or something, I dunno. But just like the Team Store, prices are super NYC Retail inflated. I'd never pay their prices for anything.

I dunno if they changed some of the sticks since you saw it, but the grips on Hall's XXXlite and Kaspar's One90 were not similar at all. As I mentioned, the XXXLite was a bubbly feel like TPS' new grip. The One90 was more like the normal Bauer grip I've seen. Unless Kaspar has a custom grip, and the normal grip on the One90 is going to be like that bubble stuff. I dunno.

was kaspar's one90 blue? the one90 stickum is supposed to be coming, but that stick will be red. the bubbly grip is definitely on the ONE90 stick at the retail level, and I haven't seen it on a XXX-Lite yet. Maybe Hall's using a repainted ONE90?

Kaspar's was blue, just like all the other One90s I've seen in pics. The only One90 I saw up close was Gagne's after a Devils-Flyers game, but even then, I was several feet away so I couldn't see what the grip was. Dunno what the deal was with Hall's stick then.

I was in there about a month back, they took the sick kick off of me and said "It's not supposed to be on sale" and put it in storage when I asked for a price. Abit of a rip off, 350 for a broken stick. I don't care whose name is on it or used it, thats bollocks.
