Savard wants the team to play more of a puck possession and offensive game, exactly the type of game the new NHL standards are suited to. Hitch is all defense all the time and that isn't going to help a team whose primary problem has been scoring. Flyers haven't seen much if any benefit and it has been over a month. As for the Blues they may have some short term benefit but they really need some young talent to emerge.

11 of those goals were against St Louis and Ottawa, who was playing a road game the night after playing a home game. Getting 11 PP against Ottawa didn't hurt either. Maybe he can motivate a couple guys and that will lead to some production, I just don't see it working for long.

I'd put that under "short-term benefits." Is Zherdev still even in the league?

He's been hurt, came back last night though.

Hitch has been pushing a puck possesion sort of game too. One major thing he's done is get rid of the rimming the puck up the boards. While yes, his style is still pretty defensive, can't argue with the results so far. All the losses have been by one goal, and two of those losses were screwy with permature fireworks going off and a questionable no-goal on a replay.

I'm voting for Hitch due to his ability to turn things around in the beginning. If the players tune him out I think it will be next season that they will return to the status quo.

For the long term Savard is the way to go.

Flyers are done.

St. Louis is in line for another top 4 pick.

I know this poll is for in-season changes, but best coach in a new place this season has to go to Ted Nolan. Any coach that gets Yashin going at over a point a game (28 in 22) has got to have some serious coaching abilities.
