As a European club player I find it hard to get a pant that is available for longer then a year. Our teams all wear the same pants, so when new kids join the club or players need replacements there are no matching pants available.

I would add 2 more catagories to vote on: Durability & Fit

Both of which I would put ahead of all the catagories listed.

My order of priority is:

1-Durability

2-fit

3-price

4-matching colors

5-weight

6-looks

but you can't buy what's not available...

My priority is not up there durability. I am pleased with any pair of hockey pants that last and I have not found many that do that yet.

Maybe your on the ground a bit too much? :P

I dont look for any of those factors. I like a lot of ventilation in pants.

i'd rather have breathable material that is durable and very comfortable. the wicked 3 pants are sssswweeeettttt. i think those are the best on the market right now.

Agreed. Breathable material, then nice looking. I have some wicked 5's and think they are awesome. Been 4 games now and haven't burned through the knees. (but haven't spent any time falling on the floor :P )

durability is nonexisting in roller hockey pants. the only way roller hockey pants wont rip is if you are always playing on sport court or something EXTREMELY similar. anything else will rip your gear. i dont even look at durability when i buy pants. everyone will fall. it's the nature of the sport. i know they're gonna rip soon enough. that's like not buying skates because you think the wheels will wear down and need to be replaced. or not getting a stick because it may break.

I didn't realize how lucky I was to be playing on sport court all the time. I've had some old mission pants for like 4 years and still going strong. I picked price because pants don't affect my playing ability like wheels do.

What I also dislike is the fact all these pants look like MX/BMX pants. As on durability, all pants will rip up unless they'll will apply hard plastic caps. I mocked up some designs, and will probably have some samples made in Germany in the next year. Please feel free to post comments, especially if you got some good concept brand name suggestions. Everything I can think of is so corny or it crosses the line of being appropriate.

It may sound dumb, but what I'd like to see more in budget priced pants are POCKETS.

I don't spend all that much time on the ground, so there aren't too many holes (or "added character" in some circles) in my pants, but pockets would be a nifty addition in my book for budget priced pants.

graphics that don't look like they came straight out of 1997, or off a mountain dew can.

simpler is better...can't stand shimmery materials and neon colors, but something a little nicer than plain black :D

So what do you think of the concept picture I put up?

they look straight out of 97-98. Kind of simple and blah, I honestly wouldn't want to compete with Mission or Tour for pant market unless the become a little more stylized. I'm not talking MX/BMX stylized either, just a little more vibrant looking.

How about some durability on that selection list?

it's a slippery slope designing pants, Mission actually did something about durability in the old Type-M pants, but they were very heavy. People can either make that trade off, or get better breathability, lightweight and good looking while sacrificing some durability. Granted looks and durability go together, but the weight and breathability of a pant designed to be super tough would probably be a turn off.
