I own probably the Longest and Shortest Blade patterns used the NHL: Kovalev's and Alexi Khavavnov's. Khavanov's blade is alittle under 9.5" Long and Kovalev's is about 12" Long. It is almost imposible to lose the puck stick handling with Kovalev's blade, but shooting is quicker and more accurate with Khavanov's Blade.

my prostock "big toe" curve that I got from HM is 9" long.

How do you adjust for the extra length? Now any blade longer than 11" looks like it's a mile long to me and it seems like it slows my hands down for some reason, probably mental.

i don't know. but i always stayed away from the iggy because of how short it is. maybe i should give it a try though.

i was using the Heatley pattern and that's a very short blade, i noticed that it's easier to get the puck off the ice and handle the puck with. The shooting part is probably due to since it's smaller blade, there's more of a " sweet spot "

Here are the photos of Jagr's CCM Vector OPS. The blade is spray painted. The blade is also cracked in the middle. He also shaves down the top of the blade. The foam core is exposed on the top from doing this. It will be hard to see since the core and the blade are black.

I didn't know how the photos would post. The black foam shows easily. The stick was snapped up high. That is why it is so short now.

personal preference usually implies that it makes a difference in some way, even if only in that persons head... what difference does shaving the top of the blade make other than maybe making it less durable? does he like looking at a flat top instead of a rounded one? i mean that seems like a little eccentric even for jags...

I've used a ccm tapered blade before (v130 model?) and after a few games the material on the top of the blade just fell off after a few slashes to the top of the blade. Basically the whole strip of material/paint came off the top exposing the foamcore on the blade.
