Rbk 690?

Recommended Posts

Just for the WJC

Hate to pay the license fee just for an old helmet. Just slap the new logo on there and you're good to go.

Yeah, I would think that people would get that part - but yeah, you never know.

Just trying to head off the inevitable follow-up questions.

All of the protective does. That helmet was going to be the new Jofa helmet if RBK did not come along.

The reason why there is a RBK sticker on these 690s is because of the licensing fees involved in the WJC - if Jofa is not a brand anymore, why pay more to display that logo when you can just slap a RBK sticker on it...

But why scrap the 690 to begin with, it's not a bad helmet at all and it's still a popular model in Europe. And I have a feeling it'd be more popular in NA as well if it's marketed as Rbk. It's weird how some people think the brand label itself is more important than the product, but some people would think Rbk is "cooler" than Jofa, even if it's the same product.

I wonder if the 8K would be as popular (in the NHL and otherwise) if it said JOFA on it instead. JOFA being largely a European company.

A lot of people around here don't like the styling on the 690. Then again, if it said RBK, it would sell better.

I don't know, ugly is still ugly even if it has a different name. I'm sure it protected the bean very well but I wouldn't go around looking like a Spaceball.

Personally, I love the look of the 690. Never liked the look of the 390, though it didn't stop me from wearing one for 4 years.

Put the right logo on it and kids will buy anything.

I had the 690 and found it to be a great fitting and very light helmet, much nicer thatn a lot of the North American helmets. Wasn't very concerned over the looks at all because it was definitely doing the job. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

yeap, I like the design too, but only if the helmet is weared with a cage (and of course loose :P ) with a shield it looks dumb.
