Quebec trip- must see places?

Recommended Posts

Hi all- I'm planning a trip to Quebec in May with Mrs.Monty22. We haven't really started the research yet, but I did wonder if anybody has any recommendations for dinner, must see attractions, and of course any decent LHS locations. Will be driving from CT. Thanks

Maybe the old Montreal (the old ports and etc) and the Old Quebec (the remparts and the citadel), very Europeenish. Maybe the Bell Center, if the Habs are in the playoffs and are still playing, the city might be electric. You could also go see the Olympic Stadium, the tower and everything depending on the availability. For the Hockey Shops of course there is the Gilbert Rousseau Sports in the Montreal region and the Entrepot du Hockey in Quebec City.

Thanks for the tips- We've been to old Montreal before and enjoyed it very much. I'm assuming most of Quebec will be similar, only more French? Do you know of any vineyard/wineres in the area? Not really my bag, but the Mrs puts up with my hockey nonsense so it's only fair....

Old Québec is a must see and is the oldest city in north America. You'll get to see le Château Frontenac, les plaines d'Abraham (where the war between the french and english took place), la rue St-Jean (great for the boutiques and restaurants) and there's also les chutes Montomorency neer Ste-Anne de Beaupré. Pick up a good tourist guide if you want to make sure not to forget something.

I was born in Québec and now live in Montréal so you can contact me for any info.

Quebec is cool. You say you've done the Montreal thing...good on ya. You'll find the rest of Quebec to be a lot more French than Montreal. Quebec city feels like it was peeled off a European map and dropped right here in North America. As for areas outside the cities, it's beautiful countryside with a lot of hard core, proud, yet friendly Quebecers.

Here is a tip on odering breakfast. (Say in your best French accent.)

"I'll have two eggs side by each. An orange juice of glass. And a pair of toast. Merci."

I always thought it was:

"I'll have 2 eggs staring at the sun, 2 bacons side by each, an orange glass of juice and a pair of toast..."

Don't forget:

"Trow me down da stairs, my shoes!"

The best Strip Club are mostly in Montreal and on Ste. Catherine Street. Super Sex and Solid Gold are sure bets if you ever want to ''hit them''. Some of the most traditional clubs are mostly in the Old Port, if you ever want the whole traditional experience you might want to hit Les 2 Pierrots. Kinda of a pub but with a local band performing everything from La Bottine Souriante to Pink Floyd. People dancing on the tables, good music, good beer and hot ladies. If you ever want to fine dine, I remember going to a street in Montreal where there is every kind of food available, it's near the St-Sulpice but I don't remember the exact name of the street. During the summer time there are some local artists performing including arts, music). I will try to talk to my brother tonight and ask him.

As for Quebec City you can for sure spend a whole day walking around the Old Quebec, there are a couple of pubs here and there, very nice stores. Everything worth seeing in Quebec City is within walking distance from the Old. You can just park your car somewhere and walk to everything including the Chateau Frontenac and the Plaines. The chutes are nice but if you ever went to Niagara Falls, don't go cause you will be dissapointed. And If you come in from Montreal City, you will be able to see them while your driving on the Trans-Canada highway.

Ohhh JR :D

Well since he'll be with is girl, I don't think it's a great idea, unless she's open minded héhé.

But the best one in Québec city is Lady Marie-Anne, quebec girls are AMAZING :P, even the non-striper ones haha!

There's also le Folichon and in Montreal, chez Paré, where Guy Lafleur used to go after games until he started doing Viagra adds ;)

Thanks again for all the info. Looks like we'll be staying in the walls of the city, and making day trips further away once we've explored Quebec. Looks like there is no shortage of decent eateries. Is Moishe’s the consensus best steak place? The Unibroue looks promising as well- do they have anything close to or similar to Newcastle?

unibroue does all belgian styles, so nothing is close to newcastle.

also, unibroue is in chambly which is closer to montreal than quebec city. if you are looking for a beer place in quebec city this could be a better option: http://www.labarberie.com/

Strip clubs. LOL

haha... My fiancee tried to start an arguement by baiting me into going into Super-Sex with her.. that place was skeevy.

as for dining, I would recommend Mike Bossy's for steak... and Carlos N Pepe's if you're into mexican. Just be weary that the margerita's won't taste strong.... they use 'white tequila' instead of gold..much smoother. I was the idiot dumping shots of Quervo Gold in mine.. let's just say I don't even remember the Bruins/Canadiens game...

If you've been to Montreal before, you'll see that Québec city has nothing to do with Montréal. While mtl is a big metropole, Québec is a touristic attraction where students party too much. :D

I'll sugest this site: http://www.telegraphe.com/

I don't know how old you are, i guess you're not going to go clubbing with your girl but if so, the Dagobert is the place to go.

Be sure to try a "poutine" too. Our own junk food.
