Skate Sharpeners at OneGoal Show

Recommended Posts

I am interested in having an informal gathering of the skate sharpeners at the OneGoal Show in Toronto. We could check out the vendor's machines together, asking questions as a group, and going over pros and cons about the machines with the reps. We could also share any insider secrets, JK, if you wish. I will be at the show on Sunday and Monday. At this time, we are all making appointments with vendors so an acceptable time may be hard to find. Perhaps we could do this Sunday and Monday if some guys will only be available on either day. At the moment, late Sunday, after 3 PM works for me and Monday is wide open. If there is any interest, add to it here or PM me and I'll start a list.

Not sure if going to the suppliers is such a great idea not sure why but I think the idea of meeting up Monday is a good idea.I have to work on Sunday as we have a game in Oakville. If anyone is in the area and wants to see the bet dressing room for a minor team you could stop by?

oakville Ice Sports rink 3 11AM.

Actually here is an Idea we could meet there and then you guys could head to the show while I work...LOL.

Then we could all ask questions of the suppliers and meet again Monday and see what answers we got and compare?

Dark good Idea though.

Had to chuckle at the image of 4 or 5 MSHers going rapid fire on the poor reps at the show.

I was thinking more of one guy sharpening a pair of skates and 20 other guys fighting over how much better they could have done.

I'd pay good money to see that! Then again, I'm weird.

But we'd have to set up some research standards for testing. It couldn't be a skaters opinion or anything...

Over 10 years ago at the CSGA show in Montreal one of the vendors had a contest for fastest riveter with the standard hand operated bench riveter! The fastest time riveting a Tuuk onto the skate won the bench riveter. I was going full speed with extra rivets in my mouth(just a pinch between your cheek and gum-Walt Garrison/Dallas Cowboys) to go faster when that one problem rivet in the heel f'd me up. I believe the winning time for 14 rivets/1 skate was under 2 minutes. That was a fun contest. Lets get Blademaster to put a sharpening machine up for a contest!!

Haha actually wrong team...that was Earl Campbell of the Houston Oilers...the Skoal Brother...

Under two minutes? Cake.

As far as a sharp-off goes, count me out. I'm actually looking forward to 5 days of not being on a sharpener.

so are we meeting?? anyone figure that part out yet??LOL

Are you guys planning something reserved for those who are attending the show...or will there be details for those of us in the area that may also be able to attend a social gathering, but are not eligible for entry to the Official stuff.
