Waking up your legs

Recommended Posts

I went to a public skate with a friend today and started off fine. Chased each other about a bit, taught him how to skate etc. Then my legs felt like they didn't want to move. Like when trying to crossover, it wouldn't lift and ended up dragging it.

I haven't been to the gym since Christmas/New Year but that's been my rest period after the workout I've been doing. I run, cycle, lift weights during my workouts.

I also play the drums and the legs haven't been wanting to work as well. Pretty damn disappointing when you have to play double bass drums quite fast for a band :P

Any idea what's going on and to fix this??

Thanks for the read and hope you guys can help.

Your legs have just gotten soft over the holidays; I felt exactly the same way on Sunday when I skated for the first time since Boxing Day. You've got "turkey legs" and you just need to work it out with you standard routine.

For pre-game: Stretch first and then jog. Bring your knees up to your chest during the jog after a bit.

Works for me.

After a few days of skating, you'll get your legs back.

Okay, update:

Legs starting to work better now. Took miker's advice on getting back on routine and did some jumpsquats. Felt much better!

And yes, I do stretches during warm-up and cool down. I go to the gym around 3 to 5 times a week, spending about over 2 hours each session.

You spend 6-10 hrs a day at the gym? Do you get paid for this?

My guess is he ment per week otherwise he's superfit (which by his post he's not) or he doesn't know how to workout at the gym properly.

Woops! Didn't read that post. Yeah, I meant per week. Ma bad!

I just do what works really. I cycle for 45 minutes then stretch for 15-20 minutes. Then I focus on the muscles I'm working on for the rest.
