where can you trade skates?

Recommended Posts

I have a brand new pair of XP110 missions and I would like to find a place that could trade for a pair of 9K's or Vector pros or 10.0's

Can someone help?

Have you tried the trade section here?

PIAS won't do a straight trade because there's no money in it for them. Even the best deal there, consignment, only nets you half of what they sell it for. Your best bet is either keep checking with other people or Ebay them to recoup as much money as you can for yourself.

From what I here though it's not always the best deals.

so your trying to tell me they have brand new pair of 9k's or vectors?

They have both used and new gear, as sdcopp said it won't be a straight trade.

If they are brand new why don't you take them back to where you bought them or sell them as brand new and then buy new skates?

i put them for sale here at half the price of web but theres no takers...

as for taking them back, I can't they are a warranty pair to replace my AG110, the top eyelet broke and mission had no more AG in stock since the new pairs are coming out...

The best I can do is hope that someone can take them in there inventory and me pay the difference in cost to get other skates... I have a wider type foot and the XP is a lil to narrow for me, fits like a Bauer...

The RBK/Vector lines seem to fit me better so thats why I'm asking

I work at a PIAS.

How the trade system works:

Consignment - You get 60% of what we sell it for, but you have wait until it sells and leave it with us for a minimum of 30 days, maximum of 90.

Trade (What most people do) - You get 50% of what we sell it for(Example, sell the 9ks for $500, you get $250). It works as an in-store credit. You get 250 off anything in the store. We sell new and used, and for my PIAS, mostly new. So, don't think that it's all used.

Buy - You get 40% of what we sell it for. You get a check right there on the spot and can put it in your bank account, spend it on strippers, what ever.

And yes, what size? If they're brand new then we would probably sell them for around, say, 600 so, you would get $300 off your next pair. And if we don't have the skates in, we have no problem ordering you any skate you want, only, when they arrive, they're yours. 300 may sound like a rip, but it's better than nothing.

are all PIAS the same? or is it up to the franchise owner?

because i don't think the ones around me do that good of percentages.

the one in Chicago offered me $50 on some used Vector Pros.

They are in really good shape. I stupidly bought them too big from a guy at my lessons last spring before i knew what i was doing. but i just sold them to a guy at the rink for $140 so i only lost $20 on what i paid. Much better that (my local) PIAS.

So i would say if ebay/craig's list doesn't work. Put some fliers up at your local rinks.

Good luck!

No, all PIAS's are individually owned. But, it would strike me as odd for only 50 for a pair of V-Pros. We take into account how much blade is remaining, how torn up the skate is, cracks in the holder, insoles, rips and all that good stuff. So, if your skate was torn up with no blade left, obviously your not getting as much as a brand new pair, but still 50 bucks is low.

It Could have been the person pricing them, maybe didn't know what the skate generally sold for new. Or he thought you had no clue what you were talking about so gave you a bogus price.

yeah i'm not sure, i think he assumed i did't know becuase i told him i bought them second hand. But they were in almost new shape, lots of steel, a couple puck marks and a small dent in the heel. but he didn't look that closely.

No matter, i sold to a guy i know who was psyched to have them.
