i wonder if he will switch visors after this

Don't count on it, pro hockey players are a funny bunch. Sundin almost lost an eye but once he got back, it wasn't long before he went back to going visor-less. If a smart guy like Sundin will still take a chance on his eyesight after a serious injury like that, and considering that he saw Bryan Berard take the fluke high stick that made him go partly blind in one eye, you have to think that nothing short of a rule change would be enough to make some players switch.

If I was paying these guys massive salaries, I would have to insist on a visor. At some point common sense has to prevail, and they should make visors mandatory. They could, if nothing else, grandfather it in like they did with helmets. Just my two cents worth.

Koivu went to a bigger/wider visor after his injury last year. He was wearing a small (but not Kronwall small) visor before this year.

Maybe Nik will do the same.

Wow...bet that bled like crazy, too; I got cut for six stitches (on the bridge of my nose) and just about covered the whole right side of my face with blood. To be honest, I didn't even know I was bleeding until I looked down to play a puck in my skates and blood started dripping from the tip of my nose.

Cuts on the head/face almost always look worse than they really are. Something tells me that the cut Nik got there was every bit as bad as it looked.

Sundin got a bad cut on his nose from a visor which is why he switched back.

Why stop half way? Like I mentioned above Visors can cause harm as well, why not go the full shield route?

Not questioning you, but I don't remember that and I just ran a few queries by google to try and refresh my memory to no avail. What I *do* remember is that not long after Sundin put on the visor, he was in a slump, going scoreless for about 5 or 6 games, and *then* he took it off, saying something about not being comfortable with it. Then almost immediately (coincidentally?) he broke out of his slump and guys like Don Cherry attributed everything to the wearing/not wearing of the visor.

Unfortunately I can't seem to find any stories about Sundin abandoning the visor. I can't imagine how bad a cut on the nose would have to be to make someone risk a serious eye injury given that Sundin has a history of eye injuries, and given that he saw up close what happened to Berard. I'll let you cut up my nose ten times before I'll let you get close to my eyes.

The guy has no luck, hes hovering on the "bust plateau" as far as im concerned. 3 seasons and hes played 20, 27 and this year 39 games at the NHL level. Obviously hes got great skills and upside but comparing him as the second coming of Lidstrom is ridiculous almost ridiculous as his $5 year $15 mill contract.

What a hit. The story mentions that he got cut, but doesn't talk about his removing the visor for good. I know that he had complained that he didn't feel comfortable with one on, and on that site there was speculation that he was taking off the visor while the cut healed lest he take the visor again in the same spot. You'd think, given the controversy his injury raised re: visors, that I'd be able to find an article specifically about him choosing to abandon the visor after promising to wear one, but I forgot how hard that website is to search.

I also have a vague recollection that sometime after Sundin dropped the visor, he got high-sticked across the nose - maybe around a face-off ? - and he joked that maybe the visor would have prevented the injury. Let's just hope that a Sundin never has to suffer from another eye injury that could have been preventible.

Kronwall's visor is like its not even there. I'm from michigan and have watched him on tv, and i dont get why he even wears a visor. its not even on. its tilted up instead of being in front of his face. stupid if you ask me.
