I don't think it will happen...

Orlando plays in the developmental league (WHA2) and that league is going down the shitter real quick - they're pretty much going week by week. Matter of fact, Orlando's ownership (which owns 4 other franchises in the league) has not paid the City a dime on the building lease.

They are banking on a lengthy NHL lockout - however, none of the proposed WHA franchises have signed leases with the cities' arenas.

If they can manage to get it going and maybe pull a few NHL stars in it could provide some alright entertainment while/ if the NHL has a lockout. However in the long run theres little chance of it surviving, but maybe some of the new rules may work out well and the NHL can implement them. So theirs pro's and cons.

I think it depends on where they place the teams. There isnt going to be too much support down south as they will have nothing to identify with. There could be some good support in Minn, Wisc and other states in that area as they actually follow hockey and the players that come from those states. And Canada of course..

It's the World Hockey Assiocation (sp?) and it was arround in the 70's, Gretz got his start there, as did most of the Oilers. It folded, but now it's trying to come back.
