First skate in SyNergy skates...

Recommended Posts

Ok, I didn't put this in the review section b/c I am obviously a rep from Easton, so I thought I would give a little recap here...

Finally got my hands on a pair of SyNergy skates yesterday and got to wear them this morning to just horse around at a sticktime session.

First off...they are amazingly light, when on my feet walking around and skating, it feels like I am only wearing socks. They fit wonderfully and didn't have any hot spots.

The first thing I really noticed with them when skating was how responsive they were and incredibly fast through the turns. I really felt like I was being propelled through the turns.

With my Z-air Comps I had my heel coming up a bit, not a huge amount, but I could still notice it once in awhile...but with these, my heel was locked right in there...as well as my forefoot. It felt like the energy transfer from my foot into the skate was right on the money.

I was on them for about an hour and didn't get any of the aches and pains of skating in a pair of skates for the first time. For lack of any better words, I was pretty blown away by these skates. I think we are going to absolutely surprise a lot of you and I am very excited for their release!

Not at all, they felt no more stiff then any other top of the line skate. Forward flex was just fine. I am a really low skater (think almost Gretzky-like low sometimes) and I had no problems leaning/flexing forwards.

I do have a weight on them, but not sure if I am allowed to release it just yet. They are very light!

They were retail.

Don't have an exact release date yet or retail pricing. Though I don't think they'll be as expensive as everyone thought.

I'm sure if you searched for the skate, you might find something.  I've had pics of the skate for almost 8 mos so far.

So I did search around and found some pics. I must say that theese skates look kind of cool.

That's actually my sister's dog (my dog once in a while), and the chihuahua is her friend's dog. My sister is a graphic designer and she did some freelance work for Scholastic. So Chico's encouraging the kids to read :P

Hey Ryan, just wondering if the laces dug into the top of your foot a little? I am asking this because when I tried on various Easton skates last year the side walls of the boot didn't really rap around my foot and when I tightened them up the laces really dug into the top/middle of my foot. I think my feet are the kind that always seems to have some trouble finding the perfect pair of skates though.

I have noticed that quite a few brands of skates have been making skates so that the laces rap around the foot more so than the sidewall itself. I am thinking it is to prevent the skate from creasing at the ankle and weakening the skate. What is your take on this?

If the skate is not deep enough the skate won't wrap around your foot. That's why not every skate works for everyone. As far as the baking goes, I've been told that there's not much to bake - a majority of the skate is composite. I'm speculating that there wasn't much thermoform plastic used in the boot, therefore, not necessary for heat.

Had my second skate in these today and wow...again nothing but positive things to say. They really are the lightest and most responsive skate I've ever tried.

No, the SyNergy skates don't need to be baked. Due to my extremely wide feet, in the past I have had to get my skates baked many times and even got medieval with the boot punch. With these, there are no hot spots and right out of the box I feel like they are just slammin!

Zaytser, JR is right. You might need a more high volume boot due to the shape of your foot. Some skates are cut more aggressively, cut lower, etc. etc. I do think last years tongue was kinda bulky and this years tongues are much more streamlined though. However, a higher volume skate like the Air SBX might suit you better then a Z-air.

Ryan, what else does the synergy skate feature?, Is there lots of padding in the boot? Whats the liner made out of?, and does the Synergy skate have the eyelet setup of the Z-air comps? (padlock)

Hey Ryan, do you think that these skates will hit the retail market in the next couple months? I am gonna have to be ordering or getting new skates soon, and I would like to be able to try these out, thanks.

Just curious as what width your skates are. I think I have the widest feet in the history of mankind and even some EE are a little too slim for me.

I've always had EE skates and felt like I could have even used wider heels then the factory standard. My foot gets wide early.
