is it me or does it look like there was a little bit of a knee in it? could just be my imagination. secondly, i wonder if anybody went after the guy for throwing that hit.

i agree it is a clean check and his feet were on the ice until contact i have had some hits like that never broke neone ribs but i did make a kid throw up, and i never got a penalty :) but all in all a super nice hit, guy saw it comign and shuda been prepared

clean hit imo.. finished the check.. why the other guy stood up and stood square to him 1 metre from the boards is what i dont know. should have tried and got to the boards took it with his shoulder.

When you play for Michigan you end up taking a lot of hits like that just because of the M on your jersey. Especially when playing guys with an inferiority complex like those at Western Michigan.

don't accuse them of trying to hurt the guys because they play at Michigan! The players who go to Western Michigan are very talented and hardworking as well!

That doesn't mean I think that kind of hit is a good thing in any way though.

The comment was actually supposed to be tongue in cheek, not really implying that WMU tried to hurt the kid from Michigan. But the University of Michigan's hockey team has been so good for so long and has produced so many pros that kids at other schools try a little harder, throw a little extra when they play them. It's like playing USC or Notre Dame in football, or Duke in basketball. Especially when it's a matchup like WMU-Michigan, Michigan is top dog in that state, while WMU is pretty much the red headed step child.

Clean finish checking, and the checker stopped taking strides. The player that got hit should've known better than not to get low, and lower and turn his shoulder into the check. He was standing tall and square to the oncoming player. I believe the "explosiveness" is partly caused by the subsequent compression and expansion of his chest. I wish him well in his recoveries.

I agree with this assesment. I also would add thati bet the kid had a concussion...hint to those guys that like to wear thee helmet loose...you see it fly off as his head hits the ice.....

If your going to hit someone u should hit them as lightly as possible, just enough to make them wobble a bit. I dont even think hitting should be allowed in hockey anymore. Save big good hits for football.

Hitting keeps players in check, keeps the intensity up, forces good passing plays, and is just an important part of the game...good hard hits are always going to be a part of hockey, as most hockey players would probably hope. This particular hit goes too far over the line though, in my opinion.

No you need hitting or your going to get way to many cocky players, and they'll have no punishment. Bigs hits are usually what pumps a team up or sets the tone and pace of the game.

Now that hit is great for an entertainment purpose for non players, but as a player I am agreeing with everyone here saying it was clean, but it was way harder then necessary, I am hoping some one stood up for the guy who got laid out though.
