So i'm looking at getting a new phone. I was looking at getting a PDA/Hand Held

These are the phones I was looking at.

Palm Treo 650 Smart Phone

Palm treo 700wx Smart Phone

BlackBerry 8703e 1xEVDO Handheld

Motorola Q

If any of you have any experiences with any of these phones please post them up.

BTW I need a new phone now and i'm not waiting for the iPhone.

I will be using the phone mostly for texting and for calling.

I have the 8703 and love it - it's my second Blackberry - and this one is a great package.

What I like:

Great for typing, outstanding screen, great range of software (I've downloaded things like a golf score tracker, RSS reader, etc.) - the extent of software out there is limitless

What I don't like:

Not much to complain about really - it's a bit bulky, but all those in your list are.

I looked at others when I first went to a PDA phone (like the Treo) - but I've owned 4 palm pilots before and never kept one more then 4 months (I find the interface on the Blackberry to be more to my liking) - so I couldn't bring myself to hook into a 3 year deal with something that traditionally I couldn't stand.

I'd suggest really going out and handling the phones, trying to type a paragraph, navigating to check email, and then to make call, etc. - the most common things you are going to do. I will say it took a couple days to get to be a fast typer on my Blackberry - but I now have no issue typing a 1000 word email on it - it really is that fast to type on...

If all you're doing is texting/calling why bother with a PDA? Wasteful.

Easier to press the buttons to text, I hate having a regular cell button with more then one letter on the keys.

And I also like to get emails and surf the net on my phones.

i have the treo 680 and love it!!!

its a great phoneand has tons of capabilities!!!

I don't even use the ones work gives me; I can't see why these would be needed by anyone other than as a status symbol. But then again, I remember the shoe thread and how absurd people are.

I dont like the idea of one.. but between an internship with a client base, having to access my email a lot (for work), and everything with school.. it seemed practical.

BTW, I ended up with a blackberry pearl. I haven't figured out how to use it all the way yet, but its nice.

I'am about to buy a treo 650 from ebay unlocked and all.

Paying about $230 for it. (slighty used)

I basically went with buying it from ebay becuase then I can buy it from ebay and not from a store and then I can choose any package deal and not upwards of $80 a month.

The best PDA phones hands down are the HTC phones... specifically look at O2s like the O2 XDA Atom or 02 XDA Orbit is the newest one. You could always go for the XDA Exec the clamshell design is awesome.

How can you recommend a phone that isnt even in production yet? It isnt even impressive, as many phones have been doing what it does for a while now....and cheaper.Plus Apple isnt exactly the greatest around.

And since when have cellphones been a status thing? Last time i checked, they all serve the same purpose..to make and receive calls.
